Re: For Marmite lovers only

I'm copying. But yes I'm learning. I also have a long history of not doing what I'm supposed to do, a condition since childhood.

I like the Marmite tea.

Re: Williams Redux

My wife wore white shoulders back in the day when we started going together. That was decades ago. I don't think that's it. When I originally bought MWF I asked her if she recognized the scent and she didn't. But now I want to go buy some white shoulder for her and find out for sure. I won't say sta...

Re: For Marmite lovers only

Searching around, found a recipe for a Bloody Mary with Marmite. Haven't tried it. Don't know if I will. Maybe one day. But I did use Marmite in hot water like a tea. It's good. The saltiness is diluted away, can't taste it. Funny thing is (not funny haha) the taste is a lot like Molasses tea. (EDIT...

Re: For Marmite lovers only

Thanks.

The taste does dominate. My strong black coffee I was drinking at the same time had a celery aftertaste. That was disconcerting, but it didn't linger into following cups.

Re: For Marmite lovers only

Does Marmite need to be refrigerated? Searching around I get the impression the answer is no.

This morning I reflexively put the just opened jar in the fridge.

Re: Williams Redux

Appreciate the OP. I'm not a fan of glycerine, but always interested in tips. About the fragrance of MWF I swear I remember it from childhood but I can't place it. I know there was no MWF in our home, and I'm not sure there was anything with that fragrance in our home. Just one of those bugs bugging...

Re: Can't reach site when using VPN

That was my guess too. At any rate, I've had PIA set to automatically select connection location, and I first noticed this maybe Friday or Saturday. I can work around it.

Re: FYSA Dominica and Grand Bay

Grand Bay bottles were coming with cork stoppers when I first bought it. And that wasn't really that long ago, when West Coast started carrying it. But now, or course, plastic caps. I'll jump on Dominca if and when it returns. But now that I'm aware of the possibility of many others similar to Domin...

Re: Back to a two-pass shave

Interesting. I'll do touch ups with just the residual soap on my skin. But haven't tried a full pass. I guess it would work, but I think you would have to have the residual soap on your skin for lubrication. If it was really just water and no lingering soap, wouldn't the friction between razor and b...

Re: For Marmite lovers only

So, I bought Marmite from Amazon and have tried it (just now). I used it on German black bread with butter, and sharp cheddar on the side. I also tried it neat off the butter knife. It is pretty good. Really salty. But an interesting taste. I like it. Maybe I will buy the big squeeze next time. One ...

Re: Can't reach site when using VPN

After I posted it occurred to me that I should have looked at my VPN connection location. I'll give that a look and post an update. Edit: Thanks for the tip. The mystery deepens. Re: Boots for heavy rain

My opinion, there are lots of options, if you can be casually dressed. No good options for jacket and tie or suit. Things I would consider.... Waterproof boots similar in style to cowboy boots from makers such as Dan Post and so forth. Waterproof hiking or woodland boots, or the Main Hunting Shoe, f...

Can't reach site when using VPN

Started the other day, so far as I know. When VPN (PIA) is on, I get "can't reach this page" in browser (Edge). I noticed at the same time that I was able to reach the site from browser on smartphone (no VPN), then thought to turn off VPN on laptop and see. With VPN off, can reach page. VP...

Re: brush cleaning

Wow. That's why I generally (not always) don't like loaning stuff. But that's my hang up. I'd probably buy a brush and give it as a gift to keep from loaning one of mine. I cleaned a brush once (badger, with borax) and didn't see much difference between after and before. I'm not even sure it needed ...

Re: FYSA Dominica and Grand Bay

@El Alamein Thanks. I've thought the same, that there must be multiple manufacturers of this general type of Bay Rum. I do wonder now that you mention it, just how proprietary it can be (what could be secret?) given the ingredients of both Dominica and Grand Bay are simply Bay tree oil and alcohol. ...
