Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

I just want to share some more pictures I found. Here's the first bottle: https://image.ibb.co/fZzdqA/c.jpg https://image.ibb.co/nsi2iV/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.jpg Probably from when T&H owned the right based on the address? And the second one: https://image.ibb.co/czgcHq/sasas.jpg This one i...

Re: Royal Yacht

And speaking of which... I found what appears to be some old archive footage (BBC?) of the closing of G. Thomas in 1977: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/video/mm-gettyimages-com-mm-nicepath-preview-objecta527873936-news-footage/722818851 Does anyone know how Gettyimages works and if it would be p...

Re: Royal Yacht

Considering past glories, I should mention that the other Royal Yacht - from Alfred Dunhill - is no longer available. It seems the Danish company that license the name and recipe from Dunhill aren't willing to ruin the tin art with photos of various cancers as EU regs now require for pipe tobacco. ...

Re: Civetone and Tigers

Thats fascinating! That synthetic civetone they use seem to be at least somewhat decent as Tigers mistakes it for the real deal! ;)

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

Thank you Gary but I don't have any expectation of finding it, that stuff is probably long gone by now. However, I found some pictures of a very old bottle of Hammam Bouquet extract from an old Ebay listing, which look like it dates back to the original Penhaligon's before Truefitt & Hill bought (?)...

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

My second bottle arrived today and yes I could get it open! A little too much open as I spilled some juice on my leg and some drops on the floor, well well it smells really good in my apartment now anyways! The new juice has a somewhat lighter colour than my other bottle but they smell the same. Now...

Re: Royal Yacht

Not Royal Yacht but I found some pictures of some of Geo. Thomas other products (and a Trumper bottle) from an Ebay listing. Enjoy! :) https://preview.ibb.co/hbnovA/1234123412341234123412341234.jpg https://preview.ibb.co/gF6WFA/1234123412341234.jpg https://preview.ibb.co/eVYNNq/41234123412341234.jpg...

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

I just have to share a highly interesting old book (1893) I stumbled upon. A small section of the book is devoted to Penhaligon & Jeavons and there is a reference to Hammam Bouquet and even more interesting, a reference to some perfume called "Marechal Bouquet", which I never heard of. Perhaps I sho...

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

yes, you are probably right! But I think I leave it as it is now and wait for the new bottle to arrive instead! I had my eyes on two Hammam aftershave bottles on Ebay but they seem to be gone now, probably for the best!

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

Gary and everyone else - I'm sorry to disappoint you but I still haven't been able to open it (as of yet) and I didn't have the heart to destroy that little bow. However, I did find another vintage splash bottle from the same era... and.. I.. bought it! I like the cologne so much that I wanted to ha...

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

Thank you Gary for your excellent post, you have inspired me! So much that I went and bought a pair of rubber gloves yesterday and I'm sticking to your plan tomorrow when I get home, I'll make an update later with the results. As to avoid this problem later on - I really don't think that will be a p...

I still haven't been able to open this bottle. As I said before, I was able to open it when I first got it but its been stuck after I took it with me on a trip. Its getting really frustrating.
