Good to know - thanks, Pointer! If I really fall in love with it then I'll look at custom scales. Or, I could just take the plunge and buy a new one.

Anyone use a Genco razor?
I've decided to dip my toes into the sacred waters of straight razor shaving. Rather than lay out hundreds for a new razor I bought one from an antique store; it's a Genco "Gold Seal". It seems to be in decent enough shape; the edge seems to be straight and flat (according to my eye when I...

JayDee, I agree. I'm starting to become accustomed to the menthol and I'm getting some really great shaves with this soap.

Re: Floris Vetiver discontinued?
... Royal Mail had ceased the goods and destroyed it "accordingly", dangerous goods they say... Sorry to hear about your experience. In the last 4 or 5 months I've noticed that shaving sites have stated that they cannot ship out-of-country because of the alcohol; presumably because it's a...

Funny you should mention that. I had considered submitting a photo of his young lathered face for "Shave of the Day" but decided against it for security reasons.
This is the World Wild Web, after all. Kinda sad, actually.

Re: BullGoose making newz
Thanks for sharing, Clive. His reminiscence of "shaving" with his Grandfather's razor and lather machine strikes a chord with me. My 3-year-old grandson likes to "shave" with Opa (German for Grandpa) whenever he's over. I let him use a modified Bic disposable razor (the blades ha...

Re: New hat and trip to Buckaroo Hatters
A man can never have enough hats ...... This is a very nice one, Sam. You need to add a flat cap or two to your list -- although unless you are in cooler climbs, they can be a bit warm-ish. I was in a Barbour outlet the other day and had to really constrain myself to not buy one of their fabulous w...

... the majority of women prefer us to have just a little stubble (presumably so they know it's a man they are smooching!) That may be true, but I asked the most important woman in my life what she prefers and she said, "Smoothly-shaven cheeks." I am more than happy to oblige. YMMV, and a...

Thanks for the feedback.
My kids popped over for supper the other day and I showed the Obsidian to them. Both really loved the aroma, and in particular, my daughter said she had to restrain herself from spooning some out for a taste. Like I said, "5 plus" out of 5 for aroma.

Review: Stirling's "Glacial Obsidian" Shave Soap
If you enjoy the aroma of black licorice whilst shaving your menthol-numbed face, look no further than Stirling’s ‘Glacial Obsidian’ shave soap. [1] Upon opening my new jar, I was immediately impressed by the really strong aroma of anise; I could not distinguish it from the black licorice candy pipe...

Yikes, that's a big brush! It seems unwieldy except for only the largest necks and faces (or perhaps for head shaving).

If you find a legitimate seller, let us know, of course. This one seemed likely: https://www.ebay.com/itm/282465745144 They have 99.9% positive feedback, which is high, even for eBay. What I don't get is how they can sell them that cheap and ship them to the USA from Sweden. I also found their own ...

Hi pltk, Since you're on an all-Canadian glycerine soap kick, have you tried Midnight and Two?[1] I'm working on a tub of 'Coast' and I'm really enjoying it. I bought it partly because the M&T owner said it works well with hard water; it was developed in Calgary. I'm happy to report that it does...

"The boar brush was dry."
You mean completely, as in dry-as-a-bone dry? If that's the case, what would be the advantage in that?

My pleasure!
I enjoy reading everyone else's reviews; wish I'd have done so before I spent a bunch of money on Eucris. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything.
