Re: Simpson Brushes History

The idea is to pool together all the memories and eventually create a book detailing the origins of our family business. The real history has been diluted over time. Online forums post a lot of ‘maybe’, ‘possibly’ and also total misinformation on the Simpson timeline. There are real stories behind t...

Simpson Brushes History

Hi all. Life has taken a few twists and turns over the last couple of years so apologies for not answering messages etc. I have just created an Instagram page solely dedicated to sharing the history of my family’s founding and ownership of Simpson Brushes. I’ll be adding photos, family owned documen...

Re: Rooney... catch me up?!?

I’ve been trawling through some old Simpson paperwork today and have found some old receipts from the 70s/80s re: hair supply. Will scan in some examples and post on a separate new thread. It’s been great fun today looking at some of the old paperwork! I’ve found some old price lists from the 70s/80...

My family ran a shaving brush business for over 70yrs, using the same supplier of badger hair for the majority of that time....

Re: 2019-100yrs since my family started the business

I chose Nimmer as that was the name of the hamlet in Somerset where our old brush factory was located-Nimmer Mills. Beautiful part of the UK and lots of happy memories for me growing up there.

Re: 2019-100yrs since my family started the business

I’ll be using what I would call ‘Best’ grade-equivalent to the Best we used to use at Nimmer (and before in London). Sourced from the right places! This whole venture is about making the brushes as true to the methods I was shown as a kid. Good quality materials. Handmade. Quality Control will be so...

Re: 2019-100yrs since my family started the business

Hi All, I hope everyone is as well as can be expected considering current times... It must be an age thing but I have forgotten my old profile log in, hence the new one! Well it’s taken some time to get to this stage but...brushes are soon to be made. Handmade by me here in Dorset, UK. I am going to...
