Great post to revive. Very articulate folks here. I have learned that these gents expressionist type really can simulate our smell senses. We only see text here; amazing how calculated visual description alone can stimulate ones olfactory. Enough of this drivel... this is a great place to learn abou...

I agree with Jaymo. Over the years I have accumulated lots of different types of razors...old and new. The long handled Gillette Adj., dialed down is by far the least aggressive. My favorite DE. Only a Feather blade will do; all others skip and grab on first pass. I must admit.. my daily shaver is t...

Most folks like their hair a certain way, having said that, after years of searching for a hair product that suits me. Not sticky or heavy and has a medium hold, I have been using Paul Mitchell Foaming Pomade for over ten years. It comes out of the bottle white and milky. A pea size amount will do. ...

Yep tried most all of the domestic canned stuff and Barbasol is my pick. It seems to hold water underneath provided you steam or leave it on a wet face prior. Leaving it on your wet face for a few is really key. A steamed shower or bathroom will make difference no matter what lub you use on your face.

Swiss Army is a nice and clean scent but it comes on strong and dies very quickly. Even under clothes, it seems to vaporize rather quickly.

My best shaves tend to come at the end of my shower, while still in the shower, the steam and letting the shaving cream have time to soften up beard seems to really help.

You can try Caswell Massey's Aura of Patchouli, There is a cologne and an aftershave.... not sure if there is a matching shaving cream.

Reasonably priced!

Michael, I agree, Angel is a very bold step in men's fragrance. As per many reviews... Love it or hate it, never have I seen a scent to elicit and evoke more response (at least in my somewhat juvenile internet travels). Its good and bad in the same breath. I sniff a mix of coffee, vanilla, syrup, co...

Awesome, I am a bit of fledgling flashloholic (candlepowerforums).
It is amazing what some these specialty guys can do.

Just ordered me a Surefire E1B for every day carry.

Lotsa stuff going on in the boutique flashlight world.

My take on Special Reserve is that it extremely thick, almost choking. I had a bottle and "gifted it" to my step father. Yes there is leather in there, but to me it is off- putting. Maybe a very sprite dusting on the right gent would work but not for me. Before my "gifting&q...

This reminds me of an instance that Johnnie had with 2 (maybe more) inadvertently stacked feathers in an old Gillette a couple or more years ago. I don't remember the details; just that I would've never admitted this oversight myself.

I agree with notthesharpest. Less is more principle applies until one finds his sweet spot. Squeaky close causes problems for many guys. Well shaved, in my opinion, doesn't always equal baby bottom smooth.

Gordon, I remember chatting about these two a good while back. I find Taylor's to reveal a bit more musk and a little bit heartier. Starts sort of strong but settles nicely to last all day. Sort of like old money (weathered, attracts women and still spends just the same). A very sturdy classic scent...
