That's really interesting information; I never even thought about what these orchards might be displacing. I've been trying to cut out the animal products I use, and it certainly does force some tough decisions. If you don't want leather, then the faux-leather is usually petroleum-based synthetics, ...

I'd say it depends on your hair type. If conditioner doesn't leave your hair flat and lifeless (as it does for some people), I'd recommend at the very least washing your hair first thing when you get in the shower, applying conditioner, and then rinsing that out as the last thing you do. What you do...

I hope it's okay that I jump in here to ask a question, Chris. I know there has been a lot of debate over whether the Henry Blaine site actually describes the Cool Grease products correctly in terms of which version has the strongest hold and which one the lightest, so maybe you could clear that up ...

1. Warm water rinse after shaving
2. Nancy Boy aftershave gel
3. Wait a bit for it to soak in
4. Nancy Boy moisturizer

Depending on the weather, I'll also sometimes just throw on some Coral or Limes Skin Food, but I have dry skin, so a little moisturizer usually isn't a bad idea, even in summer.

I really like Kirk's, and though my skin tends towards dry, I actually found it very gentle (though I didn't use it on my face). I actually got my father onto using it when detergent soaps were wreaking havoc on him this winter, and he said it helped quite a lot, and he's even using it on his hair! ...

I've been using this Dead Sea mud soap from One With Nature. At first I thought it was good, but nothing too special, but after using it during dry weather for a couple of weeks, I think it's actually done a great job of helping dry skin. It's under $3, and the mud in it is the second ingredient, so...

I gotta say, even though I have somewhat dry skin, I could not imagine putting this stuff on my face. It's SO greasy and doesn't absorb at all. I can only even use it on my hands if I'm putting it on before bed, otherwise it drives me nuts. The Nivea creme doesn't actually moisturize your skin, it j...

I really like the styling cream, but as others have said, you really need to be careful not to over apply. I usually just run my index finger over the top of it to get a small, thin layer on my finger tip before emulsifying--not even a pea-size amount. I'm a little torn because the styling cream wor...

It's always scary when you read a Wikipedia article on something you actually know a lot about and see all the mistakes, but I guess I'm still naive enough to trust the articles on topics I don't know well. An interesting article mentions a comparison of a selection of science articles on Wikipedia ...

They're more expensive ($12 a shirt in three packs), but American Apparel's tshirts are great. The shirts are unisex, so they are a little more fitted on men, come in tons of styles and colors (for you guys who need them to match sweaters or uniforms or just don't always want white), and they're all...

Kiss My Face makes a citrus non-lathering facial cleanser which I practically guarantee won't dry out your skin, and the ingredient list is free of anything that might cause concern. I didn't find it particularly effective, but it's cheap and easily available at places that carry KMF products. I hav...

SCS Lavender

Hi everyone,

I've been wanting to try lavender water for some time, and with Sue's new lavender, I'm wondering if anyone has tried it to see how it compares or what they think of it? THanks

I'm currently using a bar of Nancy Boy soap in one shower and a bar of Bee and Flower rose soap in the other shower. They're both fine soaps (the Nancy Boy in particular, the latter I just like for the rose scent), but whenever I use an olive oil soap like Kiss My Face, I wonder why I use anything e...

I don't mind the limes (like others, I've had a very long-lived sample I've been working through), because as has been said, the scent doesn't last. To be honest, though, I think the stuff smells like Mt. Dew.
