Re: A good Barbershop Fragance for....?

Hammam Bouquet would be my vote from Pens. The powdery dry down that seems to last most of the day is my rational.

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

Got my stash today and my med cabinet has its own Coates row now. I'm glad I got some lavender as it was surely at the top of "my one that got away list for good..." I thought. Scent wise, it is very, very close to T&H which has always been my benchmark for how a shave product should s...

Re: MWF bath soap

I thought the MWF performed great. Excellent lather, no drying or adverse reactions and it was very firm which lasted a good while, even in the hand size. I found the scent to be a generic soap scent which bored me personally. If you have any Italian grocers in town, check out the stuff below. It is...

Re: RazorRock - S.Maria

I was expecting a firmer soft soap the likes of XXX or Proraso, but I am pleasantly surprised with what I got. It's almost effortless to scoop out a dollop with my finger and there are no clumps or unlathered cream left in the lather bowl like, for example, when using the same method for CF or older...

RazorRock - S.Maria

Just received a pot of this today. I was happy to see the packaging is not the same as that used for XXX. It is much more solid and with an actual screw top. The scent is like a sweet eucalyptus and the cream is pretty much the same density as a fresh Creightons offering. I was expecting something m...

Re: Truefitt and Hill Shaving Creams

I got my last pot from straightrazordesigns. No issues with customs and the lead time was fine (~ 5 business days). After shipping it was about 50 loonies for one pot though. I would call the TO shop first.

Edit... The quality and freshness of the cream was 110% as well.

Baxter of CA. You get a very mild scent of the ingredients, but nothing more. Cleans well and nice on the skin. The pump bottles are very economical as well. Spectro gel is mass market option too.

Re: DR Harris Rose Cream

I seem to recall T&H having some sort or requirement or program in place with resellers to ensure creams are still fresh. I can still get great lather with hardened Coates Lime and Rose. I just let a layer of water sit in the pot while showering while leaving the brush wetter than I would for fr...

Also: Yeah, it does drive me a bit crazy. But I don't scour eBay or anything. I will hopefully be able to get a Blenheim but don't spend a lot of time chasing unicorns. Anymore. Thing is with ebay, at least the seller sees a value, in most cases doing the product some justice. I'd be more worried a...

Does it not drive you guys nuts thinking that just maybe, somewhere in a forgotten stock closet or storage, that last box of Coate's or old Trumpers or Floris cakes are screaming to be found?

I bet there is, this thread did it.

Good on you for your approach to selling this last stock.

The hippy patchouli smelling granola cruncher stores around Ottawa have charged around the 12 dollar mark for the past few years. Or at least since I've started buying it. The bottles last for ever, so I still see it as a good buy for that dollar value.

The stores and the retailers who carry the brand are almost always able to provide samples. Definitely worth a sample if you happen by, or if the store is not too far out of your way.

I like the Sandalwood cream best out of the lot.

Agreed - just when things start getting thick, I count to 30. I also use a fair amount of water.

The milled pucks, Tabac, Harris, Trumper, AOS aren't going anywhere fast with selective useage is my thinking in taking this approach.

Thanks for the insight! The smoking made sense as I am old enough to kinda remember smoking indoors at places of business. The booze seemed questionable due to the excessive and constant consumption. The Howard Johnson episode where the wife ditches him shows clearly an Omega with a black leather st...
