Re: Plisson Horn Handle HMW Shaving Brush

I'll be darned if I can figure out how to get these pictures rotated the right way. They're right side up on my computer.

The backside of the brush,

Withdrawn - Plisson Horn Handle HMW Shaving Brush

This brush is either a #14 or #16. Knot measures approx 23mm, loft is about 60mm. I've owned the brush since 2005 and it's never lost a hair on my watch. The badger hair is quite firm. Not a brush for someone who likes soft loft. $250 Paypal only Price includes CONUS shipping and insurance Plisson.J...

Not sure what happened to the other picture in my original post. Here's the shaving cream in the tubs.

Withdrawn - NOS Coates Shaving Cream in Tub - Almond and Sandalwood

It's been a long time since I've posted here. Hope the board and all of it's members, both old & new, are well. I was digging around in the linen closet and found a treasure trove of old shaving gear and products. I've long since settled into a comfortable shaving routine so I wanted to offer so...

I normally adhere to the adage that life is too short to drink cheap booze (or use inferior shaving products) however there are some instances where you can get away with less expensive liquor, such as cheaper vodka in a screwdriver. There is one drink where lower quality booze is actually necessary...

IMO a light cocktail should contain no more than 3 ingredients (ice is an ingredient.) Based on what your are saying my preference would be for either vodka (or gin) with tonic, or a martini. Anyone can make a good vodka tonic. The only real trick is figuring out the ratio that tastes best to you, p...

I lived in South Jersey most of my life and have made the car trip to NE many times. You will get arguments either way but I prefer the GW because it is more direct. One trick is to avoid the upper deck. For some reason it is more crowded and there seems to be more problems. Also, be very careful on...

Wife not withstanding, back when I was in high school my mom worked with a girl (then in her early 20's) who was, without a doubt, the most beautiful woman I've seen before or since, famous or not. She was tall, brunette, and had the kind of face that was so natural she could roll out of bed in the ...

None of the Bic single bladed razors (including the Metal) cut well for me. If I'm going to use a disposable it is the Bic Twin Select (also packaged as Silk Touch in pastel colors.) The extra blade helps them cut better yet they are still very mild. As long as you don't have a multi-blade hang up I...

About a year-and-a-half ago I was in Dallas, TX with a group of colleagues who were all about 10 years younger than me (I'm 37.) We met in the hotel bar before dinner and I, being a fan of the martini and its variations, ordered a Gibson. Needless to say, no one knew what it was. Several of them que...

When I first started wet shaving I hated anything that was rose scented. I'm not sure when things turned around but now it might be my favorite shaving fragrance. More specifically, when I shave with Proraso after not using for some time I always think to myself, "Wow, this stuff is great and t...

I can't understand why you wouldn't shave naked. Putting on clothes to shave is like putting on clothes to have sex. Some things are just meant to be done in the buff.

I might be the only gent on this board who regularly wears Mr. Sidney. I have a certain fondness for it because it was my first "real" scent, my wife absolutely loves it, and I do genuinely like the fragrance. I would describe the scent as a cross between Clubman and Grey Flannel, with a m...

Two things seem to reoccur in my dreams: Many of them take place in a large house with all kinds of secret rooms/passages, etc. I also have the ability to run very fast but it is with very long bounding strides rather than a pure sprint. I can sometimes jump very high (hundreds of feet in the air) a...

Try to shave as if you are cutting the hairs in half on the first and second passes, then shave skin close on the third pass if need be. Two passes is sufficient for most men; three passes is the most anyone should need. Four or more passes is just gilding the lily.

I'm in the same boat with Doug. I don't have a rotation as such but do select from a relatively small group based on my mood, the occasion, and the time of year. If I were going to choose only one it would probably be Taylors Mr. Sidney, believe it or not. It was one of my first "real" fra...

Elias, While a large part of your issue may be technique, I do think that different blades can affect the skin in different ways. For example, Israeli Personnas are a popular blade among SMF members. They cut well for me but end up leaving my skin with a low-grade redness. Feathers cut like demons b...

So do you consider this a better form-factor for an already good product, or just making the best of something that others would consider a loss? The former. I happen to really like shave sticks, so for me this is the best way to enjoy Coates. If sticks don't do it for you then you can either rehyd...
