I have some half dozen fountain pens, Mont Blanc, Parker and Pelikan. The ones I use most regularly are the Pelican. I find they are the smoothest writers of the three and I have come to love the internal piston fill in the Pelican, works like a charm and has a larger ink capacity

Good wet shaving techniques (i.e., multipass beard reduction) and good products (soaps/creams/ASB's) make the most of a cartridge shave. I too pack a Sensor when flying and have found the results much improved with the use of techniques and products I learned about here. Of course, I am always happy...

I use both tallow and glycerin soaps. I get an equally good shave with either. QED are my absolute favorite glycerin soaps. Lathering with a QED soap is my morning aroma therapy. I especially love the lavender and sandlewood

After about three years of experimentation, I have settled on a single Razor/Blade combination that works for me Merker Slant/Feather blade. Same thing with brushes, I have a QED Saville Row that works quite nicely. With respect to soaps and creams, I have also tried 25+ of the leading brands and te...

I have a Saville Row 3124 and am very pleased with it for both soaps and creams. My only other brush is a Vufix so that is my only point of comparison. The SR is stiffer than the Vulfix, thought the tips of the SR are quite soft

I recently went from 3 passes (WTG, ATG, XTG) to 2 passes (ATG Combo). I found that since my beard grows differently on different parts of my face, on the second pass if I went XTG fro my jaw line down and ATG from the Jawline up, I obtained as close a shave with 2 passes as I had previously obtaine...

New York Shaving Company

have any of you had any experience with the New York Shaving Company? http://theshaveofnewyork.com/

I saw their new shop at the Parker Meridien when I stayed there a few times over the past couple of months and was thinking about treating myself to their $30 'basic shave' the next time I am there.

I recently switched from three passes to two. The first pass is N to S. The Second pass is a "combo" pass, from jawline down ATG and above the jawline S to N. Doing it this way I find that there is no discernible difference between three passes and two

Cohibas and Montechristos are the two most fabled Cuban Cigars so you have definitely started out with the right exemplars (of course they are also the most counterfeited cigars so I tend to avoid them unless I know the source is a high quality Tobacconist.) Among other brands, two of my favorite Ha...

Great post. I have come to feel the same way about the relative contributions of the elements of shaving kit to a good shave, that is why when I am traveling I manage to get a passable shave with a cartridge and a good shaving soap

QED soap favorites?

Recently I have been using QED's lavender soap and have really enjoyed it. I want to try some of Charles' other soaps. Does anyone have any recommendations for other scents?
