Lost and Found

I was digging through a box of military memorabilia that had been stored away for many years and seeing what might be disposed of. What I found was an old adjustable Schick injector, the one that has a tab under the blade which could be shifted up to close the blade and protect the age. Probably one...

Re: My favourite pizza

A little off topic, but for those who eat leftover pizza, reheating a slice in the frying pan works wonders. Little or no oil needed to keep from sticking (depending on what kind of pan you use) and it crisps the crust almost better than originally. Have to watch it, it will burn in seconds.

Re: Joke of the Day

Two old guys were talking and one was telling the other about his new hearing aid. "This is the most modern hearing aid there is; digital electronics, automatic volume controls, adjusts to different hearing environments, directional controls, and beeps when the batteries are low." His frie...

Welcome Bruce; post often and let us know how you are doing. I think you will find wetshaving much more pleasureable once you have really gotten into the brush and bowl experience.

Re: Best Trac II blades in production

Talking about the Trac II made me dig through some of my shaving stuff that hasn't seen the light of day for quite some time. I found a "bumpfighter" handle and some Trac II cartridges from Gillette and some unknown maker. I never did like the Sensor or any pivoting cartridges after that. ...

Re: Slick Tips

Brian; I haven't heard the term "gel tips" but it sure would be a good description. The tips do feel like they have a slick, gel feel to them, although nothing comes off on fingers or towels. Strange effect, particularly since it goes away entirely when the bristles are dry. I've never use...

Slick Tips

I don't recall there have been any posts about this, at least none I could find. I have a couple of brushes that have "slick tips." When they get wet, the tips feel almost oily and very slick. They work fine, make good lather and perform like any other good brush, and the lather rinses cle...

Re: Lefty and Maid Merion

Really enjoyed the US Open, and congrats to Justin Rose for hanging in there. Mickelson is certainly a sentimental favorite, but just shows how deep the field is these days. Too bad Rory McIlroy had to display his temper by bending an iron in frustration (notice that was not replayed very much); Nik...

Really cool story. My Dad taught me how to shave by example using an SE razor and mug and brush, as he was taught by his father. Nice memories.

I like using different soaps and creams frequently, it makes each shave more an individual experience than just a daily chore. Same with using different razors and blades and brushes; it keeps shaving from becoming boring.

I guess that must be the reason so many male "celebrities" have bad haircuts and scruffy beards. That seems to be the "look du jour" for the current macho male.

I think Ray took over the forum after Charles shut it down and it moved to the MSN location. Seems like there was a lot of confusion what happened to the website and all the information on it. My go-to razor for a long time has been a cooncat Bob BullMastiff handle with a rechromed NEW short-comb head. It's about as aggressive as I want, and feels pretty much like a Gillette Adjustable on 5 or 6.

You can still get the single-edge BIC Metals from Amazon.com. They work great but they are scary sharp.
