Re: Question for you old farts and retirees?

If it was a bargain, the next visit would be more because the barber told the clerk to give me a special price because of my age, physical condition, and it was my first visit. I don't know how much the regular price is. If It is no more, then maybe once a year to keep the look because I like that. ...

Re: Question for you old farts and retirees?

This was the best and most expensive haircut and shave of my life. It was a Men Zone. When I walked in the clerk, who was wearing tight pants and a silk robe, asked my if I would like a drink. I knew this was no ordinary barber shop. The waiting room had fancy chairs with wooden arms and there was a...

Re: Question for you old farts and retirees?

I am going to a barber in a couple of days for a shave and a haircut. I have to take Dial a Ride which has a lift for me and my walker. I have just used the Braun electric razor to reduce the whiskers until I go. First time. I can't get out of the house without help since my recent hospital stays. W...

Re: Old Age and Health Fored a Change to Electric

Murray, I will try without powder. I get pretty close, but after a while I noticed plenty fo stubble, so I used the razor again without drying the head. Finally got a pretty close shave but it wasn't eas. I will re-read the instructions before my next shave. I can't believe that the latest, near top...

Re: Old Age and Health Fored a Change to Electric

Used my new Braun today. It is much larger than I expected. The shave took passes in all direction with light rubbing in ll directions. It was similar to my usual DE razor method. I got a close shave but not bbs. Rinsed the head under the tapa dn left to dry until tomorrow. I rubbed a bit of corn st...

Thanks guys. My Braun arrives Monday and I will report even though it's not wet shaving, just to keep in touch.

Re: Old Age and Health Fored a Change to Electric

Many years ago I gave my dad a Ronson. It was about 1960 and the razor had a super thin foil top with holes.

Old Age and Health Fored a Change to Electric

After my second life saving trip to the hospital I was forced to use what they had available for the nurse to shave me. It was electric. I decided that at my age (86) and health the electric made sense. I went to Consumer Reports and they said Braun was best so I ordered a level 5 one that was cheap...

Re: What's in the box?

Well Gary now that the box is less full you may want to check out the latest from Cold River Soap Works. I think you introduced them to the Shaving Soaps and Creams forum a while ago. I tried some and liked it, but not the price. They sent me an email ad and I didn't like the sound of the scents--to...

After your review I wonder if it can be purchased in the U.S. online. Did your google photo mean you found some there?

Re: Good Brushless Shaving Creams

That sounds just like the Alba Botanica's Very emollient cream that I have been using. It looks like a cloudy gel; wets easily; and I need to rinse the razor under hot water freqrently

Re: Worst scent ever

I have a bottle of Lilac Vegital from Master Well Comb, I wonder if it is as bad as the Pinaud version. Also have a couple of samples of Gorgio adts. One is Aqua de Gorgio and the other is Armani Mania I believe. Neither of them is very intense. Hamam Bouque is more I believe. I got a couple samples...

Good Brushless Shaving Creams

I have been using Alba Botanica's Very emollient cream. While it is pretty good, I have used better. If any member recalls a particularly impressive brushless, please post about it in this thread. I think one I tried may have been Kiss My Face, but I don't recall which flavor. Thanks.

I don't want to steal this thread but I know it will get read so I am posting this note here. A while back a member knew that a a brushless shaving cream I was using was not greasy, it fact it worked quite well. I posted about it then but now have forgotten which it I will start a new thread about t...
