Friday in Lozère
I just drove for miles and stopped when I thought something was beautiful. http://i.imgur.com/2atfeUT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1YiXofk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ALzwvr4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UPI4aor.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TRyzwMr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/n5eYBQa.jpg http://i.imgur.com/C0MFTQB.jpg

Re: Sol Invictus
Thank you, Clive! Nice to see you're still here.
That P&S camera handles contrejour shots surprisingly well.

Re: Graflex Crown Graphic 4x5
The details retained in the background are amazing. The same photograph shot with a 35mm would probably result in blown-out highlights in the windows on the right; conversely, the drapes (?) on the left would be lost in the shadows. Also, your son must love your cat because he's covered with its hai...

French garrigue next to Murviel-lès-Montpellier, southern France. Everything was taken with my surprising P&S Sony RX100 and a polarizing filter. The trick here is I mimicked in Photoshop the effect you get on film cameras with colour graduated filters: a blue one to recover the sky and a yellow...

The shortest day. A small batch taken with my P&S. And a personal thanks to Araner for his photographs from Japan that I miss so dearly. http://i.imgur.com/IbUe7dl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mJ8Dmgr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4gR8zWF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YHsabUM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TOYumWQ.jpg http...

You're welcome, Murray. Random test: which one was taken with a full-frame? An APS-C? A P&S? No idea, I had to look at the metadata. All three were taken with my D300, the Sigma 10-20 and the Nikon 70-200. http://i.imgur.com/n5XEqjU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/U8Sdh5K.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oM2KULx.j...

Unfortunately, Japanese whiskies have become so fashionable that their prices are bordering on extortion here in France. I do have a Miyagikyo in my cabinet but I keep it for special occasions. Otherwise, it's Kirin beer, umeshu, yuzushu and whatnot.

Yukio

Re: Mont Aigoual and the Cévennes National Park
A perspective control lens allows the photographer to control the appearance of perspective in the image and it is often used to avoid convergence of parallel lines (yes, I'm quoting Wikipedia). Here's an example with a church in Luxembourg City. The pillars are parallel (well, almost, I had no trip...

Re: Mont Aigoual and the Cévennes National Park
I'm sorry it took me so long to answer your question. I take it you know photography well if you have a long experience with film equipment. First you have to know there are no bad products in the DSLR segment of the main manufacturers. With the notable exceptions of Canon, Leica and Fuji, I believe...

Please post more pictures. I absolutely miss Japan and I compensate by eating natto and drinking Japanese alcohols.

Re: Mont Aigoual and the Cévennes National Park
Chris => Aye, aye, doctor! That's what I did. I usually process my photographs in Adobe RGB and then save them for web in sRGB, but imgur seems to convert them a second time, thus turning my blue into cyan, muted green into mutated green and pretty much everything else into the clownish variety I ab...

Re: Mont Aigoual and the Cévennes National Park
I can't remember the last time I posted here. 'twas probably this thread. And apparently imgur of Firefox completely oversaturate my colours. It probably has something to do with their respective colour spaces, but I'm too lazing to investigate the matter right now. http://i.imgur.com/l4ZSeJ2.jpg ht...

Wendell, I like that beach and the moody atmosphere. However, I would straighten the horizon and use a polarizing filter to get rid of the reflections on the sea. Also, I tend to massacre colours in my photographs. For instance, here's the kind of things I'd do with your photograph (of course, that'...

Seascapes
Too much work, recently. I often go to the sea just to hear it and relax, like many people do. Post yours. http://i.imgur.com/SEMiUuZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/c3o7FYQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dBN4gOP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dtYDwgA.jpg In reality, it looks a lot like this : http://i.imgur.com/om9rPtp.jpg...
