Neale, Well, that may well explain most of it. It is my understanding that often straight razor shavers can get by with less cushion to the lather as the blade is not as sharp and is less likely to take off too much skin. Most open razor shavers tend to prefer soaps in general over creams, it seems...

I am not a fan of Ivory, dries me out pretty good and their is never a need to spend a ton of money on soap. Try some Noxzema Original and/or a nice gentle face soap. I use homemade Olive Oil soap from a online soap maker. I don't know what SMF policy on posting about vendors is so if you would like...
