Re: Gillette Scores an own goal

I seriously doubt that the people at P&G/Gillette truly believe that all men are aggressive bullies... Agreed. ...much less that the company would seek to convey such a message. "All publicity is good publicity". I don't doubt they were simply signalling how virtuous they are, perhaps to win back a...

Gillette Scores an own goal

By posting a nasty advertisement that demeans all men as toxic, violent bullies.

They are getting it in the neck in the comments, and Dislikes are far outnumbering Likes, even though they are surreptitiously deleting Dislikes and adverse comments.

If you want a blade honed within the US, I'd recommend Glen at http://gemstarcustoms.com/

Re: New blade bad shave

I've heard Americans aren't very good at geography. https://youtu.be/kRh1zXFKC_o?t=42 Allowing for that, I'll tell you that that Nova Scotia is a semi-autonomous region of The Peoples Republic of Canukistan, and was originally colonised by shipwrecked haggis hunters. It's climate is frigid, but the ...

Given that one is supposed to start a new year with a positive outlook I think it might be too early to talk about hospital food! :D

Re: My Quest for working car traction mats may finally be over

You remind of the wretched day in which I tried to haul a 26' sloop out on its trailer (lifting keel and a couple of tons of water ballast that would dump as the boat came out). There was a rising tide and we didn't get the boat fully on to the trailer as I already had the back axles in the water, b...

Re: Which straight razor did you use today?

Welcome, Mike!
I used a 7/8 Livi damasteel with ebony scales, my favourite Omega boar, Coates Almond cream, a small Moss scuttle,, and followed with Coral Skinfood and Geurlain Mouchoir de Monsieur.

Re: Allergic reaction from Tweex soap?

I hate to recommend this, but it sounds like you might be better off using a shave oil or a brushless shave cream instead of soap. Psoriasis loves oil and grease, and gets extremely itchy when dried by soaps or detergents. Concoctions like Edge gel might also work as they have very little detergent ...

Re: Mince Pies etc

Mince pies contain mincemeat, which was at one time minced meat , but these days it's usually five or six kinds of fruit chopped small and sitting in a thick, sweet sauce. A real Christmas pudding is something you probably can't buy anywhere. It's a steamed pudding, made in a pudding cloth (hence "c...

Re: Ear Wax - A Novella

I think you were lucky and you got away with it. The traditional ear syringe has a bit more kick that a WaterPik, but at least we can look to see where to direct the flow. I worked for a year at a clinic that used a WaterPik instead of a large steel syringe, but I didn't find it as good. And for Box...

No Gary, only Vince can do that. And if he did, it wouldn't change your user experience at all, beyond not getting the 'insecure site' on logging in.

Mince Pies etc

Busy so far today in the kitchen: starting at 5am I made a couple of baguettes, followed by a batch of mince pies, and then some three cheese and spinach stuffed manicotti. Christmas Eve supper is to be the manicottis with salad and the baguettes transformed into garlic bread, whilst the mince pies ...

Re: good sipping whiskey?

If anyone cares for rye whisky, there is one brand on the market here that is 100% rye, not a blend of other grains with just a metric smidgen of rye for the label. It's called Alberta Premium, and it is a little less smooth that the blended "rye" whiskies here like Canadian Club, Royal Reserve and ...
