Re: That's not a big brush, THIS is a big brush.

Ah, good old Portra 160 VC. The newer stuff's not bad, though. What? There was a brush in there somewhere?

A big brush? How about this one on the left:

That's a Vulfix window display brush (the other two are Shavemacs for those who like long handles. The one in the middle has an XXL knot for size reference).

Re: Ear muffs (sound reduction)

Anytime you get some ringing (tinnitus) after noise exposure, you have lost some hearing. Having only half my right ear working, and total deafness on the left, I have to be paranoid about preserving what's left. So ear muffs when mowing or using power tools, and either noise-cancelling headphones o...

According to our rules it will have to be a sale and not a trade until you have 25 posts.
Good luck in your search - I do like my brass General.

Re: "Poverty meals"

This one's a great tradition in the north-east of England: http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/panackelty-my-grandmas-baked-corned-beef-and-potatoes-423393 And it's delicious. And from the borderlands my mother brought down a recipe for corned beef, onion and mashed potato pie, which is OK hot, but...

Re: Muhle head thread on Gillette handle?

Whilst we mix and match heads and handles, I have been using a bulbous Jagger handle on my brass General. It is lighter overall, and alters the balance so the weight is in the head rather than the handle. Brass General head with blade 58g Brass General handle 72g Jagger handle 57g http://drmoss.ca/W...

Re: Cannibidiol CBD - what's up with this stuff?

No reason at all to believe in the concept of a 'gateway' drug. That's just silly.

As for any medical claim for any constituent of marijuana, just ask for the same level of evidence that is required for any drug that comes to market (and good luck finding it!) Sans evidence, don't claim you have it.

English Cream Buns

When there was pocket money to be spent, the choice was Southampton, lardy cake, custard pie or cream bun if it was going to be spent in the bakery. Pippa asked me to make her proper English cream buns for her birthday, so I had to get cracking. These are a rounded bun the size of a cricket ball, sh...

Home Roasting Coffee Beans

I believe there have been a couple of threads in the past from those who caught the bug. I recently decided to try it out and found a store in Toronto that would sell me green beans at around half the price of roasted coffee beans in a supermarket. Shipping was free and so I have five assorted pound...

Sadly, that brush is till too big to fit on one screen without scrolling! I'm using an MBP 13". Not a problem, though, given my dislike of synthetic brushes. Perfectly happy to consume every part of a pig except for the squeak, as we used to say in Wiltshire, and I can't see why the most avid protec...

I believe the Jagger/Muhle soaps were made by Haslinger at one time, but I think that might have changed.

Second, when the young Morse got shot in the leg, they stated that he'd likely end up with a permanent limp. This explains why the elder Morse does just that, even though it's almost imperceptible. I am of the opinion that it is an artificial limb, and the writers of Endeavour were creating an expl...

Skye isn't so much the dark horse from Trumper's stable, but a screaming pink unicorn. One is surprised they make it; it is unexpected. It certainly would seem to fit the story of an attempt to be modern, but I don't know if that's entirely true. It does not contain whatever that evil 'oceanic' synt...
