Try mixing your Williams and your Proraso cream. Great lather that way!

Even better, use a common glycerin shaving soap ($1.50) , such as Van Der Hagen and add Proraso cream. You will get wonderful results.

+1 on the Dollar stores.
Saturday morning, I picked up a Gillette Sensor for $3, and cheapo Sensor look alike cartridges for a buck or two. I even found 5 Trac II type cartridges for $1.

Of couse, I wont use these for a daily shaver, but are great for a travel set up.

For example, here is my typical routine. shower Proraso Pre/post cream Lather with Proraso in a bowl, using a brush three passes with a Merkur Slant or 4 passes with a Merkur HD cold wate...

I also use the VDH or Surrey soaps.

I especially like the glycerin soap. I get it for a buck and make super lather with it using Palmolive cream.

I also like the soap for sensitive skin. It has shea butter in it. It's very good. Definitely worth picking up a puck or two.

My Nivea goo in a can is pretty darn good stuff. I still use it sometimes, but I like my soaps and creams even better. The Barbsol goo in a can was the poorest Ive ever used. Sadly, I used it for several years before I discovered a badger brush and hard soap.

If you have the pieces, I suggest trying to reglue them back together. I have some stuff called GORILLA GLUE and it is amazing. I use if for just about everything. Also, you might try your local hardware store or auto parts store. They have rubber vacuum hose caps. They often come in a variety size ...

Here's what I use to keep track of my blade useage. Its just a paper card taped to the back of my medicine cabinet and I use a magnet to identify how many times Ive used the blade. The HD is for my Merkur HD and the S is for my gold Slant.

I stopped by my local Target and scored the following Proraso loot:
1 jar of pre/post
2 bottles of ASB
1 tube of cream

I passed on the six brushes and four cans of aerosols

Are you using one pass with the M3 and three or perhaps four passes with a DE? Is that the "time" you are talking about? Or are you using multiple passes with a M3?

Ive collected, ahem....several, maybe a dozen tubes of Palmolive shaving cream. (Just couldn't resist at $1.88/tube) The more I use it, the more I like it. I dont think the smell is bad. I sorta like it, now.....otoh, I like o-dee-skunk, too...just kidding. Seriously, everyone should try Palmolive r...

I also use Corn Huskers as a 2:2:1 mix, too. Works great and is cheap.

Just so you dont have to scroll back up and hunt for the recipe, here it is:

2 parts Corn Huskers lotion
2 parts Aloe Vera gel
1 part Witch Hazel (Dickenson's brand)

I use a Bic Metal whenever I travel. I also use Palmolive brushless shaving cream (the green tube). I get a very good shave with this little combination. But when Im at home, I use a Merkur HD with Israeli Personna blades and a badger brush. Im suggesting that the plastic Bic Metal and the Merkur HD...
