Green Pond Sandalwood

Hey Folks,

I'm in the market for a sandalwood cream and wanted to gain some thoughts regarding the Green Pond Sandalwood. I recall that gents on this board had a favorable opinion of it- does that still stand?

Has it gone through any dreadful reformulations?

Thanks,
Rick

Kent Hair Combs

Hey Folks, A few weeks ago I purchased a small Kent hair comb. Honestly I was more curious about the Kent combs than anything else, I didn't actually expect it to perform any differently than a 99 cent comb you could purchase at the corner drug store. In this case though, I was pleasantly surprised....

Hey Phil,

I think it'll be easier to deal with if I remain ignorant about the soap's quality, haha.

Thanks for the heads up, though!

I guess I can take it off my "to try soon" list.

Terrible. I was looking forward to it.

Does anyone else mix alcohol splash and balm before applying

Hey folks, I'm usually not the type to fuss too much with shaving, but was watching one of Mantic's videos (the one where's he's getting a professional shave from a Truefitt barber, probably in Las Vegas) and noticed that the barber sprayed an aftershave splash onto a moisturizing balm, and then app...

I've had a few shaves with the T&H Rose now and have been extremely impressed by it. As I stated earlier, the scent and coloring of the cream are to my liking. Some have suggested that the scent is somewhat subdued compared to other rose creams. I cannot speak to that because it has been some ti...

Well folks, the T&H rose cream arrived today, and on first glance, I have to say that I'm very impressed. The scent and coloring are just right for me and the cream is dense and rich (and not dehydrated, fortunately). I made a quick test lather and was very impressed with the results. I'll repor...

Gents, I ended up going with T&H. I recently sold all my brushes, except for one, so the brush discoloration issue was a consideration. That, and the fact that T&H's rose appears to have the qualities that I'm looking for (subtle but pleasant rose scent in a dense cream that shaves well). Th...

Hey folks,

Thanks for your thoughts- the color/staining possibility is a concern for me, so I think T&H might be the right choice... But I found out the shop also carry the trumpers rose soap. Would that factor impact anyone's answer?

Thanks,
Rick

Rose Cream: Which to purchase

Hey Folks, I'm picking up a few things at a local shop and want to purchase some rose shaving cream while I'm there. They sell T&H and Trumpers, and there is an AOS down the street. Of the three, which would you guys suggest I purchase? *Conversely, I can purchase Taylor's online, and with shipp...

Favorite sandalwood hard soap?

Hey folks, I just wanted to gain some opinions regarding sandalwood hard soap options. What options are out there, how they perform, and what they actually smell like? AOS? Trumpers? T&H? Perhaps C&E? Any favorites? For the record, I know what actual sandalwood smells like, and quite like it...

FS: 2 brushes- Simfix Grosvenor LE (2 band) and C&E BBB

Hi All, Up for sale are two brushes from my collection. 1. Simfix Grosvenor LE in Simpsons Two-Band Super Badger. I purchased the brush approximately 2 months ago and have been using it in rotation with two other brushes. It is in great condition and works well with creams and soaps. BRUSH SOLD! 2. ...

Yeah- obviously there is a lot of variability to account for even when you are using the same set up- but I have noticed that I get consistently denser/heavier lather with my most recent brush (now that I've figured out how to use it properly).

Happy shaving!

The Appeal of Rose

Hey Folks, I have become increasingly drawn to rose scented soaps/aftershaves recently. Years ago, when I started wetshaving traditionally, I wanted nothing to do with the stuff- I'LL SAVE IT FOR LADIES! and all that... But I dunno... whether it's that I am getting a bit more mature about these sort...

Different brushes producing different lather?

Hey Folks, Does anyone notice lather variability depending on what brush they are using? I'm noticing that my new Simpsons 2-band brush produces lather that is slightly denser and lies closer to the skin than other brushes I've used in the past (which seemed to produce a more airy, whipped lather). ...

John, Rick asked first so the 89 sample is his to claim. If you want to send me a sample vial I will fill it up for you. Squire- thank you for the offer- I really appreciate it! As it turns out I did some rummaging in some of my older shaving supplies and found a small vial of No. 89. Great stuff!

Hey Folks,

Does anyone know how I could get a sample of Floris No. 89? The website appears to only sell in Europe now.

Thanks,

DR Harris Mild Skin Tonic

Hey Folks,

I'm fairly familiar with Harris' aftershave line-up but haven't really ever heard very much about the Mild Skin Tonic.

Does anyone around here use it very often? Any thoughts about it (efficacy/scent/comparisons to the rest of the line-up)?

Thanks,
Rick
