Pete, Every time you put up the photos, they get better and better. The Faux Ivory is beautiful, as well as the shape. Actually I hven't seen any that I haven't liked. I find the longer handles more appealing, as opposed to the chubbies, not that I don't like the chubbies, just I tend to gravitate t...

I say pay it forward to me  (just kidding) ... my wife loves it and I got the last 2 tubes in my local CVS. We took a "road" trip today and stopped at 3 CVS' in South Central VA. All they had was Palmolive Green (Brushless). I am heading to one of the "larger cities" in my ...

Thanks fellas

Paul- I haven't attempted the "Feathers" yet... I am up to the Derby's in LetterK's sampler (which I like a great deal). I am probably going to like the Feathers, as I am finding the sharper the better....

Thanks Tim

Brother Tim,

You are a gentleman and scholar... I will try your advice! Also, thanks for giving me a reason to spend "a little" more time enjoying the "process".

Feather Portable-Nice Small Razor

I tried Pauldogs Feather Portable today, not a bad little razor. Did a very admirable job in 3 passes, although I did get one razor burn stripe directly under my chin down my neck. That was purely my fault I'm sure, as I used a Merkur blade and went too fast. Anyway, they are a great little razor fo...

Gillette SS

Hey Tim, I didn't want to highjack that other thread... Back to the routine. I am not doing anything different than I do with the Merkur HD. Hot shower, hydrate the face, use a conditioner if its been a couple of days (not likely though). Lather with either Em's, QED Sandalwood, Proraso, etc. First ...

Palmolive Red "Another One Bites the Dust"

Folks, Even though there is a good deal of fun poked at the "odiferus" nature of good ole' Palmolive Red, I think we all pretty much agree it is a good "stand-by" and a very economical cream. Well, kiss it goodbye. As of Feb. 2007 Colgate-Palmolive US has discontinued the manufac...

SS tends to nick some

I've been alternating between my 1960 SS and my new Mekur HD. I find that it doesn't matter what blade I'm using I still get pinhole nicks from the Gillette. Mostly with Israeli Personnas though... But not with my HD. Don't get me wrong, as I am still getting a BBS with either. I just think that you...

Yep

Mike, I had the sample pack before the razor... I'm doing the M, I, D, G, F... My Merkur came with a new "sample" blade, so I used it. I was going to start with the Merkur blade anyway. Thanks for the "learnin"... - Jed PS: Is LetterK the "source" once I determine what ...

Took the jump today- What a great experience!

I received my Merkur HD today and took the plunge today. What a wonderful experience, and WHAT A GREAT SHAVE... BBS ! My thanks goes to Mantic and Leisure Guy for the "pre-shave" instuctions. I didn't draw any blood, had the blade angle correct (I could hear the cut), and after three passe...

Lee's Razors does have Merkur HD

Gents, I just got off the phone with Lee. He does still have the HD in stock. There was just an article in the Feb. 2007 Readers Digest with his business and Merkur featured in it (I have not read it yet). Anyway his orders went through the roof! Over 3000 in a few days... Needless to say, he is ver...

Guys,

FYI- I just bought a tube yesterday of Palmolive (Red) at my local CVS in Southern VA for $1.57 (including tax).

Make that simple investment, along with a brush... it makes a huge difference!

Thanks guys,

I took your advice and just ordered a sample pack of LetterK's blades. Now If I can just figure out how to get the PM's out of my outbox to go to Pauldog I'd be in business....

Newby saying greetings

Hi y'all, I just wanted to say hey, and that I am greatful for this forum being availible for newby's like me. I am not new to wet shaving, althought I am new to "classic" wet shaving... utilizing a brush and DE razor, et al. I have been adding to the "bottom lines" of the cartri...
