I don't mean to rain on the parade, and please feel free to just disregard by grumpy skepticism, but . . . In the past, I've seen photos at magnification of razor blades after 7+ shaves. In comparison to a new blade, the edge is notched and serrated -- like a bread knife. Stropping (by whatever mea...

after every shave - pushing down quite hard before you put the razor away. You notice a difference if you dont do it and start shaving, then give it a go part way through a shave then continue. Before it can drag and then after it seems much smoother. The best comparison to the rubber the Razor Pit ...

Rubber (or at least silicone rubber works!) I was very skeptical but I bought one of these Razor Pit devices and it works really well. http://www.mankind.co.uk/RazorPit-Razor-Blade-Sharpener-PRODRPPS1/ I used to get just under a week with a fusion cartridge but if I wipe the razor fairly hard in a r...

I am with you with the fusion so will try out the proglide when it reaches the UK. Some people comment the razor pulls but only with several days growth and the reason for this is its cutting with only 1 pass (DE's skip over the growth and need several passes- reduction etc). I gave up on DE's about...

cartridge blade sharpener
Guys I have moved on to a gillette fusion much to my surprise as a DE shaver for the last ten years. I dont mind the price of the cartridges but as were all in a credit crunch I thought I would try this. http://www.mankind.co.uk/src/base/RazorPit-Razor-Blade-Sharpener-PRODRPPS1/ I dont hold out much...

I tried the buzzy fusion and I prefer it without. I might go back and try a tech (its my wifes leg shaver currently). I am loving the safety of the fusion that its almost impossible to nick or cut. Wierd thing is I am also getting no ingrowns which I did with a M3 and the King of Shaves Azur. DE's g...

I am leaving DE's as for me I found a better solution
I am leaving DE shaving after about 8 years with varous ones. Fatboy, Futur, Vision, Slant, tech, injector. I had a good journey and learnt a lot about how to shave. I used to have rash and ingrowns and DE's really helped but I have in the last 6 months found the ideal solution. I hestiate to say it...

Yes to me the futur is too agressive. I think that people who have their razors past about a mid setting are more likely to be using them like a straight and not relying on the guard bar. If your shaving angle doesnt change and you press only lightly changing the razor setting will make little diffe...

there is a small stop that stops it going below 1. I noticed that the razor even at 1 was not bottoming out so I removed the little metal lump in the casting. It just snapped off and now I shave at -1 with the carridge bottomed out. It has transformed my use of this razor which before was too harsh ...

I am begining to think I am the only one! I hate these blades they are so rough I cant shave with them. I started off on Feathers and realised they caused too many weepers, moved on to Sweedes which were great and since their demise I tried a few different ones, finally sticking with the Tesco blade...

shave soap towards the end of the puck
So I am reaching the end of my tabac and the soap has started to get a sheen on it (when dry) and it doesnt lather properly anymore. Same thing happened to me with MWF and I threw a good amount in the bin. Normally it is a nice matt finish and picks up nicely on the brush with a couple of swirls. I ...

I am the same, looking for something like a Gillette (now there gone) but not as sharp as a feather. I am beginning to wonder though if I have a bad batch of yellow 7 O clocks because I thought they were awful and that goes against everyone else. I couldn't even manage more than a few stokes due to ...

Squire I know your not bias but its surprising how really wildly YMMV is. The other theory is that in the factory (St Petersburg) they really dont care about us blade geeks and make a bunch of blades and package them to whichever brand needs them because of sales. Its doubtful that they have differe...

I am with you on the gillettes. I haven't logged on this site for ages have been happy with my fat boy or Vision loaded with a Gillette swede. No need to visit this site as I had reached shaving heaven. Well heaven cant last as they have stopped Swedes! I like feathers but they leave my with weepers...
