Sean, I took the survey as well. The most interesting thing, to me, is the month-long blade. To be sure, a lot of us here have already attempted to push our blades to the limit. $18 is not a terrible amount to pay, but what would the consumer be getting? A disposable razor that lasts around a month?...

...the tube version has a more familiar 'cream' like consistency, whereas the stuff in the tub is more like a soft soap. In that case, I'll stick with the cream in a tube. While the Valobra soft soap is nice, and Cella is tolerable, I also like conventional, British-style creams, which seem to be r...

Thanks, Chase i have a simpson ehsan now which is a colonel in 2 band. the only complaint i have against the brush is that i'd like to see slightly more loft and brist...

How do newer brushes compare to brushes of generations past?
While shaving this afternoon, I was pondering about the brushes of old and how the newer brushes stack up. In other words, is a top-shelf brush these days of better quality, worse or about the same as the brushes of, say, the 19th century or early 20th century? Just a curious thought that I'd like t...

Seeker, thanks for listing the ingredients. I've never been convinced that tallow is necessary for a perfect lather, and now I know it's not. Whatever Virgilio Valobra has done with palm oil and the other ingredients, he's done it right. As I said in my original post, it's as though they have figur...

There are foil and rotary kind of electrics. I prefer the foil type one. None gives a close shave I think though I have no skin problems from cheap Braun I sometimes use. The Braun wet/dry that I used while I was hospitalized, along with a brush and good soap gave me really close shaves. Of course ...

Gulp -- I don't believe mine eyes here!! I am all for ymmv -- and if this has worked, well, I guess more power to you - but for me, there are simply some things which are too sacred to even try. The more cracked a cake of Fat gets for me, the more sentimentally attached to it I become. Hugging shee...

Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving cream...
So I took a puck of MWF, blended it in a blender, and added some water. So, now I have a "cream." I shaved with it and I received pretty decent results, so my question is this: Do you think I've compromised the integrity of the product in any way by doing this? I guess I should say that I ...

Not to derail this thread, but after a few years of not using my Weishi, I decided to give it a go. I forgot just how gentle a shaver it is! Paired up with a Feather and some MWF I got quite a blast-from-the-past, great shave! I have a coarse beard, and if it helps you at all, I moved from my Weishi...

Sorry to hear that Greg. It may not be necessary though as those who recommend an electric are often people who don't know how to shave. I know that my case was a bit different, but when I was in the hospital for a bone marrow transplant for leukemia, that is what I did: used a Braun wet/dry with m...

WTB or Trade: Institut Karite Soap
Alas, I'm finally back to wetshaving! To pick up right where I left off, I am going to try and seek out some IK -- finally!
I have lots of things that I could trade for, or I'd be willing to buy it outright too. Thanks!
