Re: WTB: Yardley Shaving Soap

I have the triangular packaged soap and a shave stick that I rarely use (many other soaps to use). Let me know if you are still interested.
I know it has been some time since you originally posted.

Re: What led you to this?

I know this is an older thread, but there still must be some good stories that can be told. I started with Gillette DEs in high school (I graduated in 1965) and eventually used a Schick injector and canned goo through two years of college, back to a Gillette DE while in the army. About the time I ca...

Re: Quarter hollow or full hollow?

The fact is that one has to learn how to use a full hollow. Sorry, no shortcuts. I sold several before I really came to learn them. Once you learn them there is only the occasional quarter or half hollow that will satisfy. Full hollows razors rule! Now, that said, there are full hollow razors I like...

Congratulations Mike. I second your comments regarding the forum, although I seldom post much these days. I'm not far behind.

Re: Clothes of the past

We shall sip a dram of a nice single malt scotch Squire. Lowland, highland, or Islay, your choice as I like all of the variations within certain boundaries. I'm even familiar with the bistros in Jackson, or was 15 years ago! Perhaps we could convince Brothers to join us? Or even meet somewhere like ...

I've been out of the loop lately and had not been aware of Neil's passing. I had several dealings with him over the years and am saddened to hear the news.

Re: Simply "boared" with brushes

Mike I've been using an Omega boar and shave sticks for the last two years a minimum of five days a week. Frankly I like it for face lathering. I use a Rooney or a Shavemac super badger with cream or a Somerset Duke 3 best with soap Sundays which is the only day I shave with a straight anymore due t...

Wilkinson Sword Light Brigade - at least 25 blades SOLD

I was reading in the blade forum about no longer produced blades and it struck me that I have plenty of Swedes, 74s and Gillette Spoilers to last my lifetime. So I decided to part with my three packs of Light Brigade blades. Two of these are unopened in the original packing. In addition to the Charg...

I agree, nothing special. I've a plain jane Dorko quarter hollow that out shines the Le Grelot. Good razors, I've owned two 6/8ths quarter hollow plus a 13/16ths Lotus forged by Le Grelot in the same shoulderless thumb notch pattern. No longer own any of the three. Still have the Dorko. I do still o...

While I don't shave in the shower, I often lather in the shower with a shave stick and a boar brush. I like to see what I'm doing while actually shaving.

Well, with all that is going on in the world my little problem doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

I'll just quit feeling sorry for myself, try to see if there is a different medication, and innovate, adapt, and overcome.

Thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

Gentlemen, a physical problem and I need to vent

I've had one of life's little curve balls thrown. I have stress induced Arterial Filtration diagnosed last October. I just happened to go to a screening sponsored by my church and that was where it was discovered (my wife was in the hospital at the time for Pancreatic cancer surgery). My beloved wif...

Gary, I really think people tend to over hone stainless razors. They are not as difficult as made out.

I've used both Escher and Shapton 16000 hones with good results, but I think the real trick is ten to twelve laps on a CrOx pasted paddle to finish.

I have three of Neil's cases, I find they are just a bit more difficult to get the flap through the loop than TIs. Well made cases though. I have two Hart leather sheaths. Very nice, very soft. No doubt would attract moisture like a sponge. Classic Shaving sells both the flap and open version TI lea...
