I love my Gem 1912. Best non-straight razor shave I have going! Best blades for me are ASR Co. blades from Walgreens.

+1 Got mine from Em's last father's day and I think I lost 1 hair. Total. Period. Other than the brush not being perfectly shaped (...handmade product variance) the brush is my favorite.

The $28.00 - 3.8" Tall Savile Row is a fantastic brush. I bought one for my father and was really impressed with the product for the money. (Had to try it one morning when he visited - very nice).

Good Luck!

Thanks Niksa. I've seen other sources say that the badgers are a foodsource. (Probably true since they literally eat everything else in China)

FS - Box of Vintage Gems - UPDATE

OK I'm breaking up the lot and the top three razors in cases are outta here! Let me know which one you want and we'll work it out!!! I love Gem razors - for a tough, wirey beard the stiffer blades work great with zero irritation. I was the proud winner some time back of a huge lot of Gems. This lot ...

Highre,
Sounds like that might actually fit my preferences. I have a Simpson Polo #8 that is a nice short loft and a Vulfix Super that is nice but toooo floppy for my tastes so the stiffer style of the Shavemac may be perfect.

Familiar with Shavemac Pure Badger?

I wondered about Shavemac Pure Badger brushes. Has anyone experienced their shaving characteristics? Are they densely packed with backbone or just floppy and coarse?

SOLD - New Pure Badger One of a Kind

Big, Soft, Bulb-Shape Pure Badger brush. 24mm Knot. Brand new, just soaped up to take a look. A proto-type from Giovanni at Razor and Brush. A real nice brush, just have my heart set on a Shavemac and my wife will kill me if I get another without unloading one  BTW it's a big brush next to a h...

Wow that was an adventure, Adam. I have made a few batches of soap but always about 5 lb batches. A LOT more room for error
It really is a fascinating process. But as everyone now knows, be careful with Lye it may be wood ashes but it is some seriously tough stuff!

Hey Lux -
Welcome! I use Rose and Lavender and my wife loves it. Brushes are very personal choices - just depends what you like/want/can afford and how many you want. I have a Pure Badger, a Boar, a Best Badger and a Silver Tip.
Good Luck!

It is possible for someone with this sort of problem to shave. I have neuromuscular disorder that make my muscle very stiff and affect my fine motor control skills. I also have spasms.
