I'm one of a few people on this forum that used the Simpsonizer website a few months back to create a vague resemblance of me. In my case, it's not that accurate -- I'm not that good looking.
My nickname is a combination of my initials and the perfect pitch for an instrument to be in-tune -- A440.

The Proraso is good. I've found, however, a couple of minor downsides to it. One is that it does have frangrace added, and that can irritate some guys' faces. Two is that it can prove a bit greasy, particularly later in the day. Nonetheless, I like the stuff and it certainly is soothing if your skin...

I have a gold slant that I got new about four months ago. I use it just about every day (occasionally, my Futur begs to come out of the drawer). I haven't noticed any wear yet, but ... well, it's only been four months. I sincerely hope it doesn't wear quickly. I love that thing.

American Crew's hair products are all very good, in my opinion. Their shave products, on the other hand, are worthless -- and I've tried them all. The stuff in the tube is a brushless, latherless concoction that is guaranteed to perform poorly. The stuff in the pot does lather with a brush, but it's...

Others will undoubtedly disagree (and do so fervently), but I think it's generally true that true soap can dry your face excessively or leave a sticky residue (particularly in harder water) or both. Shampoo won't do this, and neither will most liquid body wash (most of which is chemically almost ide...

There are a lot of pomades out there that you will like far better than Murray's. Even aside from the off-putting smell of Murray's, the stuff simply does not wash out. Ever. Decent local markets are now chock full of pomades that will perform better, smell lots better, and wash out easily. For abou...

As with any adjustable, the setting should make a big difference. Trial and error will help you find the best setting for your face (and your blade). For me, it's 2.5. The consensus, as you're able to tell, is that anything above 3.5 is useless at best. As for shaving under the nose, don't forget th...

I love the Proraso Pre/Post, but found after a long time that using it as a pre-shave is a waste of a product I like so much. I use it strictly as a refreshing and moisturizing way to end the shave regimen. I concur with many of the others that no pre-shave product is necessary, unless you consider ...

I've got the chrome. Love the razor, and think it looks great. I don't think you can go wrong with the finish, no matter which you choose. And heed hyperwarp's advice on how to handle the razor.

Vic -- The Proraso Pre/Post stuff is $4 less than Prep (at least from Giovanni) for the same amount. You might want to give it a try. It's very good, and certainly fits your preference for mentholated stuff.

Chad, you should try Murray's pomade, it gives you great control, your hair does not look greasy after you applied it and it is very inexpensive. http://www.murrayspomade.com/home2.html Check out the button "products" for more information and if you want to know what all the stylists are ...

I like to use PREP. I smear a little over my beard before I make my lather. The combination of menthol, peppermint, and oil of wintergreen really cools my face off and sets it up very nicely for the lather. It also makes the first pass a lot smoother! http://www.postimage.org/aVnsSW0.jpg I've never...

How about nothing? Have you tried nothing? If you are prone to dry skin, you probably should avoid all alcohol-based after-shaves. If you don't use one of those, you may not need extra moisturizer after a shave with a moisturizing shave cream. My suggestion is to shave with a nice, rich shave cream,...

No question that a cold water rinse at the end of the shave is a delight, particularly if you've used anything mentholated. As soon as the weather cools here in Phoenix, I may actually be able to coax cool water from my tap. For the summer months, the "cold" water is hotter than the hot wa...

Good advice from all of you, not surprisingly. I didn't shave today and things are already starting to get better. I should be fine to get back to shaving by my Saturday date night with SWMBO. And the folks at the office are enjoying my (temporary) "rugged" look. Two more days of stubble g...

How to Repair the Damage

Gents -- For months, I've been cruising along, getting BBS shave after BBS shave with a tried-and-true regimen and predictable equipment. Then, yesterday. I don't know what happened -- perhaps the Israeli blade in my Slant was not screwed down tightly enough, perhaps I had a bad blade (it was new), ...

I own both as well, and like them both. I strongly prefer the Slant, however. No other razor does what the Slant does (at least not in my experience). I agree with the others that the Futur is neither unduly dangerous to load or unload. As for its slipperiness, the right grip will alleviate any conc...

He definitely didn't convert. He wears a scraggly goatee, and the rest of his face looks as though he shaved with a Cuisinart. He's a great guy, though.

I encourage you to invest that money you are putting into Mach 3 blades and get: 1. a decent brush 2. Merkur Classic or HD double edge razor 3. razor blade sampler pack 4. Body Shop shave cream This is IMO a great start up kit and it'll cost you under $100. About $91: Brush -- Edwin Jagger Best Bad...
