Re: New shaving soap from Penhaligons
Unless Penhaligon's have ended their contract with Soapworks this new soap will be just as awful as their current BB & EF soaps (and the current Trumper soaps).

Re: Closest to Coates scent-wise
True Gordon, and I didn't mean to imply that they were the same, they clearly are not. Trumpers, Harris and T&H, for instance, all have distinctly different textures when whipped into lather. All excellent, but still slightly different.

Good point Gary, they are all made by Creightons, aren't they?

Re: Current AOS Soaps
The prices are higher than ever, and I have absolutely zero confidence that P&G can or will produce a decent shave soap. I'm down to half a puck of old formula AOS sandalwood, guess I'll have to make it last.

Re: Closest to Coates scent-wise
Gents, scent aside which cream is closest to Coate's in terms of performance? I would vote (again) for T&H. Thought?

Re: Current AOS Soaps
I've been looking for an answer to this question as well. I did learn that P&G is making the new AOS soaps themselves at one of their USA facilities.

Re: Closest to Coates scent-wise
As to the Coates Rose, I would say T&H is the closest.

Re: Problem with some shaving creams getting hard . . .
The pot of brand new Harris Rose that I purchased earlier this summer is so damn hard that I've stopped using it, especially since procuring many tubes of Coate's excellent Rose creams. When the Coate's are gone its back to T&H Rose for me.

Re: Recommend shaving bowls?
I've become tired of face-lathering lately so am looking around for a good bowl. I don't particularly care for all the ridges and dots and whathaveyou found on most bowls/mugs these days, so if it's true that they might in the long term damage a brush then I'm glad to have stayed away. OTOH, I don'...

I never considered that the ridges found in many shave scuttles could damage a brushes tips over time. This has me a bit concerned now.

Several posters over at B&B have stated that both scents have been discontinued. I don't know if they are right, just passing it along FWIW.

Re: Endeavour is Back ... With Another DE Moment
Well, it never fails. I've been complaining about Morse not being available via streaming (Netflix, Amazon etc) for years so my Wife bought me the series. The very day it arrives guess what Netflix adds to their streaming content? http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Inspector_Morse/70224749?trkid=1346...
