Proraso fans in NY, PA and VA

I posted a message in soaps and creams and thought I’d post one here too. When shopping in my local Wegmans grocery store I discovered they had Proraso shave cream and after shave on the shelf! I don’t know how long it’s been there or how long it will remain as Wegmans doesn’t keep anything on their...

Prosaso fans in NY, PA, VA

Good news for Proraso fans in parts of New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. I was in my local Wegmans grocery store yesterday and discovered Proraso shave cream and after shave on the shelf! I don’t know how long it’s been on the shelf or how long it will be there, Wegman’s isn’t known for keeping t...

Re: Omega 48 - it is what it is

I have 2 Omega brushes that I have been using exclusively for the last 6 months. One has a 65mm loft and the other 60mm. I have been getting great results from both although lately I have been using the 65mm one the most.

Art of Shaving products

Art of Shaving is going to be opening a store in a mall near me in the near future. What is the general consensus on their products? I have never used any of their products and was wondering whether it would be worth checking out.

One nice thing about living in a climate where is does snow is that when you do a cold water rinse after shaving, it is a cold water rinse. Had to spend some time in St Pete FL early in Dec. and sometimes it was hard to tell between hot water rinse and cold water rinse. Last winter I measured cold t...

Hi and welcome Several members here can (and probably will) tell you what their favorite, and therefore the best, blade to use but you should get a sampler pack from West Coast Shaving http://westcoastshaving.com/. There are several available and they will allow you to choose the best blade for your...

For those who want to stock up on the old formulation I just checked the Body Shop web site and they are still selling the old and there is no sign of the new formulation.

+1 on what NTS said. I had trouble when I first started using soaps until I started with a somewhat dry brush. If it looked like I wasn't getting any lather on the brush I would add a couple drops of water to the soap. When I went to the bowl to build the lather I again looked at how the lather look...

Things learned

Gary, I still get good shaves from the Gillettes. I just find them less forgiving than the Merkur. It may just be that the correct blade angle is different between the two types and I have gotten accustomed to the Merkur's. It seems to me that having the correct angle is much more critical with the ...

Things learned

I have taken, for various reasons, quite a sabbatical from this forum. I have not stopped learning during this time however. I have finally mastered, I think :D , the art of generating lather in a bowl and after being an advocate of face lathering I now use a bowl almost exclusively. Along with lath...

I picked up a new tub of the cream around Thanksgiving and I thought that the scent was about the same but the lathering seems to have improved. They did change the packaging and have done away with the inner lid, but other than that IMHO it is a better cream than what I originally got.

Definitely a slim. I have one of each and I am beginning to lean more to the slim as my favorite. The head is somewhat thinner (I have a very deep horizontal clef below my lip) and the the handle is marginally (1/8 inch) longer.
