Re: Your best concert experience

Back around 1990-1991 when I was in college I went to one of the best concerts I'd ever experienced. Members of The Specials and The Beat (or the English Beat as they were known here in the USA) toured as The Special Beat. It was amazing and loads of fun. I actually just found a video of the group ...

Barry, how to explain these differences in olfactory taste? It's strange about smells. Most people are in agreement about the other senses. Nobody doesn't like chocolate or a grilled cheese sandwich, or a harmonious chord, or a beautiful landscape, or sex. But we can't agree about colognes. I don't...

Trying to put my fingertip - err, nostril - on what it is that I dislike about vetiver. There's a sourness to it. Montale's expensive Red Vetiver came highly recommended. Very powerful, with the sourness accentuated, to my nose. Wow. Where are all the vetiver fans? I have (in various quantities) an...

I find it to be pleasant though just a bit on the sweet side for me. Nothing offensive and I like it, but far from one of my favorites. It's a bit bland for my tastes.

I agree with some of the other posters that Floris is terrific. Encre Noir is quite nice (just bought about 2 oz off B&B B/S/T. Early on it reminds me of RDV but then lightens up. MPG RDV is excellent and very robust. Guerlain Vetiver - a little milder and lighter but very nice. Also I love MPG ...

FS/FT Floris Santal ASB - 100 ml NIB for some Colognes

Bought a few about two years ago directly from Floris when they still had a U.S. office. Decided I don't need the third one. Particularly interested in some appropriate quantity of: Terre D'Hermes Guerlain Vetiver L'Occitane Vetiver C&S Oxford & Cambridge C&S Frankincense and Myrrh Penha...

Gordon, the question of Knize availability is only of academic interest to me now, as I've found a well-recommended source in Berlin - The Different Scent - for both K10 and K Forest. I'm certainly not going to call Knize in Vienna . However, I might drop them a note by e-mail and ask if they still...

I keep the old blade wrapper with the blade. Each time I use the blade I put a small tear in the wrapper. This is real easy to do and does not require pen, pencil, spreadsheet, etc. But how you know what razor has what blades in? I lost my PC for a week. The power source got broken. So i relied to ...

What puzzles me is the mention over several years now on the forum of its antibacterial properties. My question is, to what end? Is there a frequent skin infection that alum is known to mitigate? I think we believe “antibacterial” is a good thing a priori . However, skin naturally has resident bact...

In true Las Vegas style I use a Pair of dice to keep track on what number shave I am on per blade. I use a singular die to keep track 1-6 but I rarely use a blade past 5 shaves. If you need a higher count just break out the second die and have a count to 12. 8) I love it. Great idea! I rarely have ...

I suggest the OP order a sample pack from Trumpers. For less than $10 delivered, you get samples of four creams (each good for two or three shaves) and several other goodies as well, including six cologne samples. Go to http://trumpers.com/ and select "Brochure and sample pack" from the d...

YMMV but No. 74 is one of my least favorite scents. Way to sweet, cloying and floral for me.

On the other hand, I like TOBS Shaving Shop quite a bit. As noted above, "Barbershop" is not really descriptive but somehow it smells barbershoppy to me.

Re: Sandalwood cologne question

Hi all- I'm looking for a new sandalwood scent for winter. I've owned in the past Tam Dao (too dry), Santal de Mysore (too cumin-y), and Santal Noble (a little too coffee/sweet). I have heard that Santal Noble was reformulated- can anyone confirm this, and describe the new formula. This might be on...

I'm a big Knize Ten fan, but personally,I think it's got too strong a personality for a wedding. If you're fiance likes it though, you could certainly wear it on the honeymoon.
