Straight razor vs DE razor...
Hello. This may not be in the right topic, but im curious about straight razors. Ive been using a straight for quite a while but went back to a DE for a change. I read an article that said DE razors give a smoother & closer shave. I must admit it did feel better than when I use my straight. What...

How to keep a beard neat...
Hello, im thinking of growing a beard, but how do I keep it neat around the edges?. Do people use those electronic beard trimmers or do you still use your razor?. Im thinking certain "blind spots" even using a mirror will be hard to keep it symmetrical??? especially around the side of jaw/...

Re: Pre shave...cleansing face
And do you guys "feel clean"? Isn't soap supposed to get rid of any impurities or oil on your face before shaving?.

Maybe ive found right brush for my routine...
Hello, I currently have two brushes a BK4 Pure Silvertip & a Simpsons Duke 1 Pure badger. I use soap, load brush then lather in a bowl. Ive found the BK4 & other "BIG" brushes I cant load as well. Its as if the hairs "spray" out too much instead of the soap "getting ...

Shaving bowls...
Hello, this may seem like a daft question but does a shaving bowl need to be a particular size/shape?. Does it need to be a "high sided" bowl/mug to contain the lather or can a shallow/wide bowl be used to?.
Cheers,
Martin.

Re: Considering using a shaving stick...
For a while I "built" my lather on my face but nowadays I prefer to load the brush on the soap, build the lather in a bowl, and paint it on my face. At one time I had all my soaps in stick form, even MWF, Williams, and MdC. Splash water on face, wet stick under the tap, rub stick vigorous...

Considering using a shaving stick...
Just seen this video on youtube, seems even less messier than what I currently use ie load a puck of soap then face lather.

Anyone else face lather using a shaving stick?. What are your thoughts compared to soaps in a bowl?.
Cheers

Re: Both Simpsons and Kent advised me to...
I bought a Kent BK4 it was only £58 considering the "experts" on here said it was one of the best brushes out, id say that's pretty cheap.
(Hope KENT don't see this now and increase its price)

...load & lather with paintbrush strokes not circular motions as this will damage the hair. How many videos do we see circular moions?. Ive tried paintbrush strokes although I can do it, it just doesn't seem to be as good a lather as with a circular motion. What do people on here do paintbrush o...

And will it be able to load a soap well enough? Not too soft???bernards66 wrote:Ed, No.
Martin, Simpson Supers have traditionally been rather..a..'firm'. If you might like a more flexible, 'softer' style knot the Kent BK line can not be beat, IMO.

Re: My Simpsns Super badger...
While I like all my brushes, I do agree that there is something to be said about my Vullfix and C&E "flexible friends". No issues with soap loading or lather making with any of my brushes, to be fair, though. The long-sought after BK4 is still the one brush I crave ... some day, some ...
