Re: New hobby: drone flying and video creation

SC Beaufort is pronounced BYOO-fort, while in NC it’s pronounced BOW-fort. The SC version is supposed to be very nice, also, and was the setting for the movie, “The Great Santini.”

Re: New hobby: drone flying and video creation

Enjoy! Beautiful little town with a maritime history, including whaling way back when.

Edit: it occurs to me that you might be thinking of Beaufort, SC, not Beaufort, NC, where my footage was taken. I could be wrong.

Clive, Beaufort is a well-known layover for big yachts traveling south for the winter. The blue-hulled yacht, Focus, charters for $150,000 per week.

New hobby: drone flying and video creation

I got a drone a couple of months ago. I have really enjoyed learning to fly it and creating videos of my content. A couple are linked below:

Gary, GIM is one to savor. Rules of Civility is also good, but not in the same league, IMO.

I’ve just begun The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson’s account of Churchill and life in London during the Blitz. I’ve enjoyed several of his other books, and this one has been cited as having particular relevance during the age of coronavirus.

Re: Where to buy straight razor pins?

I’m late to this thread, but pins are super easy to make and I never bought any back when I was making my own razor scales. I used brass rod stock and washers (on the outside, not between the scales and blade although I did try that). Brass is so soft it easily peens down, and you only have to light...

An old Navy chief walks into a bar, notices a very large jar on the counter, and sees that it's filled to the brim with $10 bills. He guesses there must be at least ten thousand dollars in it. He approaches the bartender and asks, "What's with the money in the jar?" "Well..., you pay $10, and if you ...

Re: Ear muffs (sound reduction)

Gas weed eaters and blowers are an abomination. They disturb the entire neighborhood and it seems there’s one going almost constantly somewhere nearby. They are also significant polluters. I’ve replaced mine - and even my lawnmower - with battery power, which has improved to the point that they have...

Re: Gym headphones

My concern would be the pairing process. Could wireless earbuds be paired to the transmitter mentioned? Normally, when you pair with a phone or tablet, you use that device’s screen to select the buds you want to pair. I may be wrong, but I don’t think the transmitter has a screen or any way to pair ...

Re: What are you reading?

I have started “Gravity’s Rainbow” at least a half-dozen times and gotten into it as far as 250 pages and just couldn’t keep going. Maybe one day I’ll get all the way through it. I feel like I need a college-level course to do it, though.

The day after his wife disappeared in a kayaking accident, a Claddaghduff, Ireland man answered his door to find two grim-faced Constables. We're sorry, Mr. O' Flynn, but we have some information about your dear wife, Maureen" said one of the officers. "Tell me!? Did you find her?" Michael Patrick O...

Re: Psychic Barber on a Sunny Day

When I visited Seattle and Vancouver on the way to Whistler in the summer years ago, I was blown away by the vivid colors of the flowers, which were everywhere you looked. The climate is ideal for flowers. Here in NC, our summers are so hot, the flowers don’t keep their bright, saturated spring colo...
