For Christmas, my MiL got me the almond shave soap from classicshaving.com. I liked the Col. Conk one, but this - OMG. I want to eat it. And at $6 for the large one, I was shocked at how well it shaved. YMMV, etc., etc. But the smell is delicious. Here's a link to the soap on their site: http://www....

I think you're all on crack. ;-)

I found these to be the worst blades I've ever used in my 1 yr of DE shaving. But hey, YMMV.

While I was there, they had a couple of John Bull's, and some Simpsons ( I know, same thing, I mean non-rebranded Simpsons like the CH3 I mentioned above). The prices were outrageous. He said he didn't have much right now due to the fact that the dollar is so weak against the euro. What I found funn...

jww wrote:Yup I like that one. Given that MWF originates from Yorkshire, I think it's quite fitting that they preserve it in porcelain and not gold, silver or chrome.
The only thing more fitting would be to preserve it in pudding.

Gordon - I didn't know that! I was looking at the Bests. I'm really a brush noob - bought one at AOS about 2 years ago to replace the dimestore one I had been using for 2 years, and thought I was getting the best brush known to man. I find it doesn't really have the backbone for "old fas...

Gordon - Yes, both Cambridge and Pasteur's do tack on a bit of a "convenience charge". Checked out the Chubby 3 at Cambridge. Wow!! Just an absolute monster. The handle is really thick! Pasteur's had the Chubby 2, which I liked better. I guess from what I've read here I was expecting it to...

MWF at Pasteur's in NYC

Don't know if I'm just out of the loop, or if this is a new thing, but I was at Pasteur's on Friday afternoon to pick up a few items for a friend and they had quite a few pucks of MWF! I didn't know there was a brick and mortar in NYC that was stocking it. I've barely begun putting a dent in my Kent...

Oh, I'm sure there are. And I have a ton of blades to go through, since I just recently started on the sampler I received from Giovanni. That was just sort of my final word on the WS blades. At least I will use the ones I have, unlike the 7am's.

Third shave with the WS...I stopped after shaving my head. I couldn't go on. It felt rough, and I was getting nicks. I wanted to remember the good times. Overall, she's a good blade for me. Smooth, gentle. I can't stretch it more than 2 shaves, though. So it is not one of my best blades. I'd certain...

I'm still trying to find the box mine came in. However, I did shave with it again over the weekend. Popped it into my Gillette H2. Whipped up a lather of TOBS Avocado. The shave was almost as good as the first. I could feel more cutting this time, but it was still smooth, with no red spots later. I ...

Mine is the 8oz bottle. Don't know where my friend got it, or how much he paid, as it was a gift. But I see it online for $25 at amazon.

+1 on her service. Top notch, best I have encountered in my 1 year of dealing with wet shaving vendors.

I've only used her soaps, but I might have to pick up a cream as I just polished one off so there is room in the cabinet!

Wilkinson Sword review

Next up out of my bag o' blades was a Wilkinson Sword. When I first started shaving, I used a Gillette Sensor. Wilkinson Sword made a replacement cartridge for this razor, which always gave me superior shaves. I was saddened when I could no longer find them in stores. Needless to say, I was looking ...

Disposable? Like the cheap 5 packs of Bic's? He uses Mach 3's now. His GF bought him an AoS gift set, I pointed him here and to the Mantic vids. He's already getting better shaves, like I told him he would, so now he's gung-ho for DE. He's thinking of buying a weishi, but I was pointing towards the ...

It truly is a case of YMMV. It may even have been a bad blade. I have a friend who is looking to get in on the DE experience, and I might put together a little Sampler Pack for him, so he can get some experience with different blades. (Don't worry, I've already pointed him to the Mantic videos, and ...

Second shave with the 7am blade: Put it in my Gillette H2. Showered, lathered up some Kent WF soap. Dialed the razor to 2, and went at my head. Ouch! Went down to 1. Ouch! What an awful, awful shave. Nicks, tugging, just a bad shave. Things didn't get better when I went to my face. I have been DE sh...
