The Untouchables
Just an interesting note. I was going through the channels yesterday and I came across The Untouchables. The movie opens up with Capone (De Niro) getting a wet shave. He has a hot towel wrapped around his face, then he gets lathered up. The barber stretches the side of his face taught and goes in wi...

It's not just a hunk of metal. It's a hunk of metal that has been plated. I think the major concern with using bleach is that the bleach could damage the plating. I don't think a single treatment with anything short of acid would damage plating. My razors don't seem the worse for wear, and as we al...

Williams is pretty easy to figure out. I've gotten great lather with it with a boar brush. What I do is I fill the mug with hot water and let the soap and brush soak while I shower, for about 5 -10 minutes. Shake out the excess water (1 shake, the brush doesn't hold much water). Then I hold the soap...

Re: Shave soap at Eckerd (Rite Aid)
My local Eckerd is changing to Rite Aid and is closing out a lot of their stuff. I got a 2.5oz puck of "VHD Select Shave Soap", it claims to be hypo-allergenic. Has anyone had any experience with this brand? I got it for 99 cents so if nobody has, I'll play guinea pig. VDH is really good,...

Buy a used brush? I didn't mind buying a used razor...I boiled it in chlorox. You couldn't really do that with a brush. And my brush isn't for sale! I like that it's cheap as hell. When all the hairs fall out, I'll blow another 6 bucks at walmart maybe on the stylish Burma Shave model. JB, We buy, ...

Thanks for the tips and advice guys. I went out and got a Norelco electric shaver from walmart and I'm going to try that out tomorrow to see if that makes any difference. Also, drumana, in regards to those products you listed I have used a similar face wash that had tea tree oil in it. It worked re...

Nothing wrong with moving to a badger brush from a boar brush, IMHO. Ha ha. Of course there isn't. I'm sure a nicer brush would work better and maybe cause less irritation (although I haven't seen that specifically stated here). But if I blew a bunch of money for an expensive brush that still irrit...

Ever use an Electric? No but I have defenitely given it some thought because I have to shave everyday and it takes up a good bit of time using my razor, would using an electric cause less irritation and breakouts? By the way my breakouts are always whiteheads so would that be clogged pores or folli...

jblackmd - before you give up on shave sticks, try just using less of it. I find it's fairly quick and easy to get enough soap off one of them - just a few strokes. (I guess it also depends on your water and on the texture of the soap.) I'm not giving up on it. I'll certainly try it again. I think ...
