I think the Body Shop brush is probably one of the most face-lathering unfriendly brushes around. At least in my opinion. It's extremely stiff (unless you've used it you have no idea), which means you can't mush the brush into your face all that well (which I like to do when face-lathering). Having ...

Depends on the brush, I think most of my synthetics have shed one or two hairs when they were new, but not after that.

The person who decided to use synthetic bristles in a shaving brush did not think, "This will shave better" - he had something else on his mind. Really? What was he thinking? Please tell us. It could have been a lot of things. Money, convenience, reducing the use of animal products, on an...

Almost all shaving innovations for the last century have been about perceived 'convenience' ( and, of course, profits for the inventor/manufacturer ), not about an actual improvement in the shave itself. I could say the same about DE razors, but that doesn't stop the majority of the people on the f...

I sent them an email last night, and got a reply saying that when I asked them about the contents last year, the current batch didn't have any animal hair, but that since then they'd introduced boar into it. And that the new hair mix they are working on won't contain any animal hair. The email also ...

Huh. I've asked them as well. I sent them an email asking if there was any animal hair (for instance boar) in the imitation badger brush, and got this reply (the exchange was in July last year): Thank you for your email. With regards to your question, The imitation brushes are synthetic and not boar...

A little update. It looks like the get together will be Saturday 20th September, at a community centre in Birmingham. It's being organised by Makar over at SRP, so if you have any questions and/or suggestions your best option is probably contacting him.

The Omega Sintex brushes are the cheap ones, they have completely white nylon bristles. The brush pictured is one of their high-end synthetic brushes. I think the Sintex isn't bad for the price (usually ~$10), although you get a flopmonster, it'll work just fine though. Omega's high-end synthetics a...

I don't think so. The Provence Sante soap comes in a bowl without a lid, so I doubt it's harmful. I can imagine the scent of the soap might be weakened though.

probably the brush is the most expensive shaving item we buy and it is one of the keys of getting the best shave possible I disagree, an expensive brush is more about making it a little bit easier for yourself, and perhaps a bit more comfortable. You can get excellent lather with really cheap brush...

It might not be very clear from that one picture, but he's shaving with a straight at about a 160 degree angle, more stropping than shaving really. :)

Yeah, it's an English kids show made by Aardman Animations who also made Wallace & Gromit (which you might have heard of). Each episode is perhaps five minutes or so, and its really well made.
