Gordon, you have been a prolific poster, and patient counselor to so many over the time on SMF, you are reaping the rewards well deserved. You have helped so many learn and enjoy the daily shave that your excess of riches is well deserved. Squire gets kudos here also for his learned postings. Well ...

I'm late getting to this, but sale or no sale, this cream really is very (very, very) good. And since it's regular price is about $1 / ounce, the sale is only making an incredibly good deal even better. Truly, "best value" is the right label for this fine cream.

corn huskers lotion. the name says it all +100 This is my go-to for dry, cracked, generally bad-off hands. It's a mirace worker for me. I'm not sure why other approaches fail. (My wife, with hard-to-argue, clearly visible results, would swear by the goop-in-gloves overnight tactic, so I'll +1 to th...

The term 'silvertip' has no real meaning, and none are "expensive for no reason". This is a question of personal preference only. I'll line up with Gordon, too. If forced to choose, I'd probably go with the Shavemac, especially since you prefer custom handles; however, Rooney is a (very, ...

I'd choose the 3/1 (style 3, size 1) in Super, available from a few places, including this one:

It's right at your ceiling, but it really is a great brush.

If I were to narrow my search to 3 specific brands, what should they be? In you price range: Rooney Shavemac / QED (these are similar, from all reports) Kent Other brushes, like the more-expensive Simpson, are certainly well-respected brushes. It really comes down to your budget. I think you can ge...

A Kent BK4 will come in under $75 and over at Straight Razor Design and Vintage Blades I looked on their sites and did not see Kent brushes?? Also, why do the Kents seem to vary so much in cost when looking for them? Lastly, is the BK4 the bare minimum to get or is the BK2 acceptable? The VB & ...

Lots of us had a Crabtree brush for $35 as a starter, I was one. You may want to take a look at Saville Row, maybe a Kent BK4 comes in around that, maybe a Shavemac or two (there is a thread about some sales on that). You may be able to pick up a used Rooney or Simpsons Best around that price or a ...

Quick update: I'm noticing a bit of dry skin after using this as my exclusive face moisturizer. I live somewhere with cooler, drier nights, so perhaps that's what's going on? I still love, love, love the way it makes my face feel, and the way it makes any traces of razor burn disappear; for that, I ...

I ended up diluting Jason's Aloe Gel at a ratio of roughly 1 part gel, 2 parts witch hazel. That took care of some tacky feel, and really, really worked well as an ASB. I think it just took pride of place in my lineup. I think I will give that a whirl. I'm really pleased at how well this works! Giv...

Try http://www.auravita.com. It's the cheapest place I know for a BK4--which I know isn't what you want--but you should check their prices for the BK8 & BK12. Others might have some other good suggestions...?

When I got my 3/1 super last fall, I was ready to sell it within the first week! However, I stuck with it, and it continued to break in. It probably took a good month of use before it fully broke in. Over time it became a great brush, however it didn't start out that way. It is a dense brush and wi...

I use the Jason's 98% aloe gel, or something like that. Works as well as Trumper skin food did for me. I just picked some up myself. I'll give it a whirl. Funny aside: the lady in front of me at the register was chatty as we waited in line. She mentioned she was a cosmetologist, and thought the Jas...

I think quite a lot of KMF! I don't use KMF frequently, only because my stash is sufficiently large that nothing gets used all that frequently; but, I have a pump around at all times and every time I do use it, I remind myself that I should do so more often. I've also used it very successfully in su...
