I must admit that the manner of listing the ingredients is odd, as Richard has pointed to also, and have to concede that it is possible that the manufacturers are listing reactants that are no longer present in the final product. I've learned something :) That is a really strange standard by which ...

At $100/yr operating costs, it would take a $2000 CD at 5% to generate an $100/yr coupon while retaining the principal. What I would do it make a small donation part of some of the SMF projects that occur here (brush, bag, etc.), generate $2000 with it, then put it in a trust fund of sorts to pay fo...

Well, it's not quite that easy. I think that if you use AdBlock to block googlesyndication ads, it's an all-or-nothing approach. If someone can show me how to allow the googlesyndication ads on SMF, but not show them on all the other sites on the WWW, I'll gladly do it. I occasionally suspend the b...

I learned a long time ago to try to NOT compare films to the books on which they are based. If I do, then I almost always am disappointed. It is much easier to enjoy both a book and a film by treating them as completely separate entities. I can appreciate artistic license. I can appreciate that the...

I think The Children of Húrin would make a fine movie as well. Maybe in the end they can live Happily Ever After :) I will concede to movies 1 and 2 falling into the potentially epic category. I really liked them. I can completely understand leaving T. Bombadil out of the movie. In composition clas...

Its one thing to have an off day; quite another to completely mess up the denouement of the whole trilogy! How can one exclude--or worse-- pose as an alternate, avoided ending-- the Scouring Of The Shire chapter?? It is this chapter, more than any other chapter, that raised the LOTR story from fanta...

Gareth, Maybe I am misinformed, or it could be a difference between laws of the US vs. the UK, but I've been charged a surcharge for using my credit card in the past. It hasn't happened in a long time, though. I didn't mean to come off as criticizing your own financial choices; I hope I didn't come ...

I actually do not put much importance on reward plans. I chose my card based on trust and the low interest rate they gave me, with no catch. It also happens they have a points system which gives me a little something in return. AMEX Platinum looked interesting if one used all the features of it, but...

I would get an adjustable if I was doing it over. The trick is finding a good one. Barring that, I had good luck with the Gillette Tech as a non-adjustable option. Not aggressive, but more so than the Weishi, which is under-aggressive for most people.. The HD can be a little too aggressive for some....

Not an op, but I agree; we've had a lot of thread lock lately and this is probably unnecessary among gentlemen. We all have issues to which we are intractable-- some more than others, maybe. For my part, I just think gun control debates are usually misdirected, and I have a pet peeve about the argum...

I've always considered the second amendment debate targeted incorrectly in most cases. The point is, as I think can be inferred from some of the quotes above, that there remains martial power in the people to stand up against a foreign force or their own government. So yes, guns that are used to kil...
