I thought that was you over on CKtG, Ron! Still working on my knife-sharpening in the hopes that I'll one day be able to hone a str8 properly. Once my gyutos pass the hanging hair test, it will be time.

Thanks for the welcome back and tips; I'll try not to be a stranger!

I can't remember if I ever bothered to post on this, but I eventually found (maybe a year ago?) that a can of Barbasol gave me a substantially better shave than anything I ever got with a cream or brush (and I tried and used up a lot of stuff over a four year period). Now I use Proraso in a can and ...

Tuesday morning:

Feather SS w/Yellow Gillette 7o'clock
Barbasol
Trumper's Spanish Leather

Underwhelmed by the 7o'clock blade. Am I really becoming a Feather blade user?

Not Spanish Leather time in Tucson, but it's cool enough in the mornings that I can pretend. *sigh*

Wednesday morning: Feather SS razor Feather blade Barbasol Taylor's no. 74 Victorian Limes First shave with the Feather razor -- wow! Great, comfortable shave, even with the Feather blade (which I still don't really like, but I'll probably finish the pack that came with the razor). (I know the Barba...

I had forgotten that you have a similar issue, Murray. Yes, I haven't been around here much lately. I've sort of gone into hiding to get my dissertation into shape and am now applying for academic jobs (which are, as one might imagine, few in number at the moment). Hopefully, things will settle down...

A suggestion from an outlier. I have extremely sensitive skin (and I've been at this long enough to know) that cannot tolerate any vigorous shave brush action. I use the brush in a bowl to make lather, then apply it paint brush style, not using the brush to really massage the lather in or scrub the ...

WTB: Schick Injector L, M, or N

Hi fellows, long time no see. I've been a bit bored (and slightly dissatisfied) lately with my Schick Krona and was reminiscing about my old E-type Injector. I loved that thing, but it was ultimately too aggressive for my face. So I'm looking to buy one of the later models, which I've never used but...

Woah, Feather blades? It's no wonder you're having trouble. Very few can use those day-in, day-out, without serious adverse skin-effects. Try a mild blade like Crystals or Derbys. As for creams, the Taylor's are nice (and the price is right for experimenting). But I think the Nancy Boy cream is even...

Tabac + Fitjar SP superlather
Kent BK4
Fatboy with Crystal
Rosehip seed oil

I've been neglecting my soaps lately, so I started using them with my unscented Fitjar cream. Very nice!

(Biding my time until I can buy more Nancy Boy.)

One other worth mentioning is Nancy Boy in their "Signature" scent. Plenty of mint action, but not over the top.

My favorite cream by a good measure.

If you want to try the real deal, I've got a brush, razor, pack of blades, and cream I can send your way: Omega 10066 boar Gillette SuperSpeed (60s version) Red IPs Taylor's Rose cream That's a top-shelf kit, but I don't use any of the above stuff anymore. I bet with that, the help of this board, an...

This is a bit off-topic, but I'm just curious about your shea issue, Tim. Have you concluded that the stuff bothers you just from your experience with Fitjar creams? I've found that four of their scented creams are quite irritating on my face, but their unscented Shea Pleasure causes me no troubles....

Interestingly, I find that lather from Coate's cream is about as slippery as many triple-milled soaps, but still offers more cushion than, say, Taylor's. Fantastic stuff; ignorance would have been bliss  Maybe I'll try a mix of Fitjar Shea Pleasure cream and Trumper's Rose soap when I get home...

Brush Burn is something that all badger brushes give me when I face lather--especially with a shave stick as there's no lather on the brush before it hits my face. Might I suggest bowl lathering with your Wee Scott? This ought to prevent Brush Burn and should also you help get the lather right. Didn...
