Re: I'm looking for a religious experience with a shaving so

Squire and El Alamein's comments made me want to make a coffee-based shave soap rich in caffeine.

Re: I'm looking for a religious experience with a shaving so

All helpful comments! Thanks all. I'll likely give a couple of these a try and let you know if the religious part came through.

I'm looking for a religious experience with a shaving soap.

Okay. My shave routine is very routine. 99% of the time I use proraso new formula in the Green Tube. I gave MWF a good-faith effort and logged the feel and shave but who was heartbroken to find that I was allergic. I use a Feather stainless steel Razor and feather blade. Once in awhile I flip over t...

Kev -- It sounds like you had a similar experience with your early-generation iKon. I didn't even dare shave with mine because of the unevenness. Gil -- When i read just the last paragraph, I can see how you picked up that I'm looking for a free razor. I may've been getting too righteous there by st...

Mike, can you show me where I said I wanted a free razor? The only thing I wrote about free product was in the subjunctive. If I were to get a free iKon at this point, I wouldn't find any pleasure in the shave. I'd end up giving it to one of my brothers who wet-shave.

I hate to say it, but I suspect that CostCo and WalMart may someday merge with Google and take over the world.

I want to believe it was damaged in transit, Gil, and I'm willing to accept the possibility. But there's a nagging part of me that wonders if Greg even checked. Your question could be applied as well to the first razor I bought and posted a picture of. Look at the annotated picture: "something ...

It may have been bent when it left Greg's hands, or may've gotten bent between him and the retailer. Who knows.

I'm fairly confident that the first razor I bought from him wasn't bent in transit because the shipping materials were intact.

I'm not talking about posting this as policy on a company website; I'm talking about this as something you do when you have complaints. Maybe my policies are too idealistic. But if they are, then my idealistic small business is thriving. I've only had one customer in the last three years who's pulle...

Mike wrote, "If you have been offered a replacement or refund, I don't understand what the big deal is. " First, let's put this in perspective. I don't consider this a big deal. Debilitating disease is a big deal. Car accidents that crush half your face are a big deal. Strokes are a big de...

iKon, why won't you let me love you?

I work daily with surgical instruments. I know what high-quality, high-functioning workmanship looks and feels like. Since I bought my first DE razor -- a Merkur 34C -- I realized that what I really wanted was an heirloom quality DE razor. Based on the hooplah, I've now ordered two iKon razors and g...

Marc -- No, I didn't try it at all. I put a blade in, and the one side was so high that I didn't dare. I'm assuming that the defect in my razor was a fluke. Best, Scott wow dadsoldmug your posted pictures made me go and check out my ikon. mine is just fine compared to your pictures did you try the r...

Disappointed with my IKON but not with Greg

I just thought I'd add my two cents to this ongoing ikon discussion. I won/ordered a classic ikon off an ebay auction. Based on the quality of the craftsmanship I'd heard about, I was very eager to try mine out. It came well packaged and with some freebie blades and a sticker, too. I assembled the h...

Since you asked, I wear my Big Bird costume, without the headpiece of course. If it's hot, I'll usually just wear a loincloth or some bodypaint.

Re: what's the sinus thing?

Pretty dang cool looking. I like the glaze on 'em too. As uneducated as I am about shaving gear, could you give me a rundown of your gear? I know what a brush, razor, and scuttle are. But what's the rest? The rest are not related to shaving, except that its neat to have a matching set with my scuttl...

valuable comments, all

Druphus, indeed it is the voice of experience!! I think dropping his razor is how *he* gets a new one. He's already got me eyeing a shavemac brush too! Hmmmmm. I see three options: (1) try other Merkurs, which you all tell me are good but will still bend if I drop them. *grumble* (2) dip back into t...

Highest quality safety razor?

I bought a Merkur 38C a year or so ago. Shortly after, I dropped it, which bent the way the blade cover aligns with the comb. It's still usable, but I have to shave with an "uneven" shave in mind. I like the shave I get from this razor, so I'd really like to find a similar head geometry in...

Hey, I know that Scuttle

Nice pic there PT.

This guy's my brother (but it was another brother who has the photoshop skills). In fact, he's the one who got me hooked on wet shaving w/ a DE.

Love ya bro. I've never seen a finer looking scuttle.
