I guess this is just the way of the world, old legends die. I can understand they wanted to change to cheaper ingredients because the reality is the classic juice isn't their top seller so much anymore and they are trying to branch off into other things (body sprays, shower gels, etc.), but they sti...

Brut Revolution you say? I've been thinking of giving it a try. What's it like? Also, I'm always looking for cool drugstore colognes. Any you recommend? Brut Revolution is most definitely a drugstore cologne. It's got a sort of aquatic smelling top note of a little bit of calone and maybe neroli or...

New Old Spice vs. Old Old Spice

I just compared a bottle of the new Old Spice vs. the older glass bottle that I have, putting both on each arm and smelling, and I really can't tell a difference, though the old stuff smells perhaps "smoother" but it is several years old. I will say this, though, the new bottle stinks. It ...

C&E really is good stuff

I've been using the Sandalwood all this week and I am impressed enough that I'm seriously pressured to just use this stuff all the time. It really does lather much easier than Williams. Wow. Using very little soap, it seems to make a very thick lather using either my Omega Syntex or Men-U. I believe...

Lately I've stopped experimenting and my daily rush shave is a 1950's plastic handle, beige/white injector with the brass head. It shaves great. I use a blade for about a week or so, and have no problems with the ASR blades other than the fact they are a little "rough" when new sometimes. ...

Re: Aftershave balm v moisturizer.

Moisturizers are not anti-bacterial, other than that, there isn't alot of difference. Toners and alcohol aftershaves are traditional, however, and are good especially if you use a very "wet" shaving method. They are also antiseptic.

I used Froogle/Google Shopping. I ordered from a shop in the UK.

I think the Omega Syntex is also a good brush, and is much cheaper and more available.

Men-U Synthetic

I got this brush a couple days ago. I like the Men-U shave cream that came with it, but it's a little greasy. The brush lathers in a bowl great, but you lather on your face and it isn't very "floppy" like I'm used to in badger and synthetic brushes. Maybe it will break in with time. It is ...

Re: Aftershave makes me sweat

That doesn't sound normal... though I will tell you one time early in my wet shaving career, I used some alum once and it made my face red and sweaty a few hours later. I have no idea why, and it hasn't done it since.

I wonder why C&E discontinued it -- maybe not enough demand? Desire to push the newer scents -- e.g., Sienna? Unfortunately I think the scent was probably part of it, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell as well, not "manly" enough. Maybe they should come out with a Drakkar Noir ...

edit: Also I dont use harsh chemicals for exfoliation. I use natural products with little pieces of whatnot to scrape the dead skin off. Natural stuff like ground up polypropylene bottles? Actually, I find most facial scrubs using the plastic beads are pretty gentle, only a little moreso than rubbi...

superspeed etymology

Why is the Superspeed so "super"? If I had to guess, it was because the TTO allowed you to use one of those Gillette Blue Blades boxes and push out a blade straight into the razor? Whereas if you've used something like the Tech, everybody knows that's pretty much an assembly job as you tak...

I get very close, but not BBS, shaves with the Weishi and Feathers. My guess is the angle is different than the Futur, which is adjustable. When I shave with the Weishi, the handle is much more parallel to the floor than the Merkur HD. The weishi ha a narrower range of cutting angle, part of the rea...

Not to be a party pooper (more the sober forboding voice :D ), but I just think it's a good thing to give a realistic idea of how much of a commitment wetshaving can be. Especially that idea on a straight razor, ouch! Truth is, we could all shave every day with a straight razor, homeroast our own co...

Exfoliation does work to let you get a closer shave- your skin has to be able to tolerate it, though. It works by sanding down the skin around the pores, and is also good if you get ingrown hairs. A shaving brush will do the same thing, more or less, especially if it is abrasive at all, but still so...

Florida water is sold in alot of drug stores... in... well, Florida. It was used as a folk remedy for all sorts of things. One thing old timers used to do, to combat heat exhaustion, was put some Florida Water on a hankerchief, dip it in cold water, and wipe their face off with the damp cloth. It is...

Thanks, but now I'm even more confused. A different direction? I though ATG was generally very bad, or are we talking like sideways? Cross-grain, sideways. Pull the razor across your face towards your nose/mouth, or down towards your chin, that sort of thing. The only place I shave ATG is on the lo...

I didn't think the scent of Sweet Almond Oil was particularly feminine. Maybe an older type of fragrance, though, one alot of people now days wouldn't be familiar with. I'm not a fan of violets or rose scents (definitely not, in fact that's one of the things I don't like in Grey Flannel), but I like...

Re: Switching from electric

DE + brush + soap isn't for everybody, I'll say that from the start. It will take longer than shaving with an electric ever would. It doesn't have to be a long shave, you can do it in as little as 10-15 minutes, but you've got to be really good to pull that off, and you won't get there right away. M...

I don't know exactly... but it does work, sometimes. If you use a brush, though, I don't see why you'ld need a facial scrub seperately before you shave.
