What are the more affordable stainless steel razors?
I would like a SS razor but most are too expensive for me at the moment. Are there any less expensive ones you guys can recommend? Thanks

I have an old Gillette 4 piece British flat bottom travel tech and want to get it replated. Where do you guys suggest I get it done and should I get it done in rhodium or nickel? Thanks!

Re: How to sanitize used razor and brush?
I guess the main question at this point is the brush, then. Personally some antibacterial soap and hot water seems fine to me.

How does shaving with a combed razor feel?
I don't have one but have always been curious. It seems like you wouldnt be able to get as close, and i can see no good reason why some razors have them, but I am sure im missing something as a great many razors have them.
thanks!

So im not close to done cleaning it, but I used the the other night. Holy crap it's an aggressive shave! Well, what was odd is that one side seemed to be more so than the other side. I think these type of razors where you have to drop the blade in and screw it together is a little less easy to get t...

So, i thought it was tarnished because i could see silver underneath it, so i boiled it for about 10 minutes. I probably should not have done that, though it didnt do much. Mostly it looks the same and a couple parts are nicer. Anyway, i definitely need to apple some kind of cleaner, oil, and polish...

Thanks a lot for the good cleaning information Racso! GOT THE BOTTOM PIECE OFF!!! I had a really long post and just edited it, but since i got the bottom piece off it is irrelevant. No WD-40 required! :) Brass razors will typically be 1940's and older. To verify these are brass you want to use a mag...

I'm not that great at razor IDs, but it looks like a four-piece English Tech from the '40s. It's great that you have your grandfather's razor - I'd say give it a good soak and scrub with dish soap or Lysol/Scrubbing Bubbles (no bleach) and start shaving! Interesting, thanks for the info! It appears...

Tips on cleaning (+ identifying) an old gold Gillette razor?
Hello all, I inherited an old gold (it appears to be, anyway) Gillette razor from my grandfather and want to clean it. Any tips on how i should go about doing this? Any ideas on what type it actually is? I've included some images if it helps any! In very small faint letters it says "Gillette&qu...

Am i a bad person if i go back to "regular" wet sh
So, i forgot to bring my shaving gear with me on this visit back home, but i remembered i had a really old mach 5 or gilette fusion or whatever they call it nowadays (the newest one when it first came out, pre the 500 revisions and different names theyve added). Anyway, i found some old shaving crea...

ah, thanks a lot guys! I thought bath and body works only sold Proraso (Bigelow). The Trumper products are supposed to be really good, right? I know a lot of people consider Proraso to be really good; are any of these other ones mentioned considered as high of quality (I know this is pretty subjecti...

straight edge razor?
I really want to try it, but don't know exactly how much I would be spending vs. the relatively cheap (for me, anyway) double edged razor/blades, or how long it'll take to get used to it, or even if the shave will differ, or what I'll need!
So much to ask!
Thanks!

besides the Body Shop (or Body Works, whatever it's called) which sells Proraso? I'd really like to try something else that is considered 'good' out, and i just ran out so I'd rather not order online ATM. I live in central Indiana so there are pretty much no specialty shaving stores around here. Wal...

How much does a Gillette black long handled adjustable cost?
My dad says that the one he has wont open and close properly (i sprayed some oil into it and it seemed alright, but apparently its messing up again). He wants me to buy a new one for him. Side note...is there a better way to remedy this problem? Can I let the razor soak in oil, or will it just get t...
