Re: Mitchell's Wool Fat and Hard Water

Hi John, I have extremely hard water (well water) - which affects the performance of every soap (and deposits rust on brushes etc ...) In my experience, MWF is not affected by the hard water any more than other soaps. With Mitchell's, just don't add too much water and you should be fine ... ... cur

GFT Officer / Gentleman

Hi all,

Has anybody used this soap before?

Geo. F. Trumper Officer and Gentleman Shaving Soap

I've used and liked Trumper hard soaps - but have not tried this one as yet - any comments on the quality and scent?

Re: Did you enjoy a cigar today?

Gents, Looks like I missed this thread during the warmer weather when I smoke cigars. It's great here in Southern Ontario to sit in the late afternoon and enjoy a cigar and a beverage while the sun is going down. Since we can legally purchase Cuban cigars here in Canada, they tend to be the "go...

Re: Importance: Lather vs. Blade

I tried exactly ONE cake of Williams soap - one of the first I ever purchased (around 2000 I believe). Even compared to other, inexpensive soaps it was not great, but I finished it eventually. Agreed that a great lather is key, although certain blades work better for me and others don't. ... Steve

Re: Straight Razor Beginner

I am trying to get into straight razor shaving. I was just wondering how long it has taken some people to finally get used to it and get good shaves from it. One month? Six months? A year? Hi Migs, Welcome!! If you have a truly "shave ready" razor, I don't think it will take long to get a...

Re: Pasted Strops

Steve, I have both CrOx and diamond paddle strops and I hardly use them because I find that when my razors have reached the stage of needing them, honing is inevitable fairly soon anyway. What does prolong the life of a blade is the use of a latigo strop, not every time but after several shaves off...

Pasted Strops

Gents, I have a few straight razors and use them occasionally. Since I'm not a honing expert like some others here, I will typically just try to maintain the edges as long as possible. Lately, my Dovo Special was a bit rough on the face, so I got out the 4 sided, pasted strop. 8 laps on the 1.0 whit...

Re: Minimal Travel Gear

Agreed on the comments about airport "security" - less convenience without really increasing the security of the plane. One time, they took a "knife" out of a Swiss Army card I had (got for a Christmas gift) <- the blade was about 1 inch long - chuckle - what a security threat!! ...

Mike,

Nice Seamaster!

Omega watches are very well made and historically significant (moonwatch).

Now, with the Rory Mcilroy endorsement, this brand will likely become even more popular.
