The first few shaves I had left my face all irritated and red, as if I'd been shaving with a cheese grater. But I just added a bit more water, and I've been fine since.

I don't know if it was the water that did it, or if my face just got used to the new cream.

the "Good old days" when we used to spend our time asking things such as "Is this new pot of Taylors half full or half empty?!?!". It matters not whether it's half full or half empty, the important thing is that someone's used half your pot of Taylor's. Smithers, relea...

Started off on a cheap electric, and due to the immense cost of batteries (and the rubbish quality of rechargeable ones), I switched to a Gillette sensor and can o'goop aged about 15. Twelve years later, and I'm using a Fusion and a can o'goop. (Not the same can, I hasten to add. I may be Scottish, ...

Yeah, I was thinking that. He probably went on the show to get some free publicity, and ended up shooting himself in the foot.

That said, letterman didn't draw attention to it, so I can only assume that it's either his own fault for moving, or TV's fault for insisting that it was done in such a rush.

Trumper's reformulation

While lurking and reading, there's been many a mention of how Trumper's have reformulated their creams, and the general reaction seems to be a mixture of disappointment and reminiscing. As a relative newbie, though, I never got to try the old creams. Are the new ones best avoided, or are they good e...

But enough of this nolstalgia. How long had you been wet shaving with the multiblades? Started off with a Sensor Excel in about '96 or so, and switched to the Fusion when I got one as a free sample from some marketing / promotions company. So about 11 years of 'diet wet shaving' all in, but all wit...

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The final straw that made me switch to DE was the cost of cartridges for the Fusion. £8 for 4, and one of them was blunt and useless after 3 shaves (and my hair's not particularly hard on blades). I decided then and there not to let them have any more of my money,...

Is it meant to be this easy?

Right, so I just started DE shaving this weekend. I'd watched all the videos, read various how-to guides, and worked myself up into a frenzy at all the stories of it taking ages for it to 'click'. What if it takes me ages? What if I'm doomed to have rubbish shaves for ages until I get it right? What...
