Re: Gillette flare tip vs black handle tip vs blue tip

The blue tip is the mildest of all the Superspeed razors. It has the narrowest blade gap and was marketed as a gentle mild razor. Probably my favorite of the SSs.

Re: Your best concert experience

My first rock concert was Blind Faith at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in the summer of 1969. I was all of 13 years old and was very lucky that my 18 year old sister agreed to let me tag along. I was quite impressed by the atmosphere, the crowd, the loudness of the band. It was a big big deal for me....

Re: Posting Has Slowed Down Lately

My posting here has diminished in concert with my diminished shaving experimentation. After using a multitude of razors, brushes, and soaps in daily rotation for years I have settled into a routine with two or three favorite shaving tools. With the reduced hunger for info about shaving paraphernalia...

Re: Taking a break from the news

Be careful with your news consumption. It can lead to all kinds of warped impressions of the state of this world. You only get what the media outlets want you to read so that they can influence your mind and your subsequent actions.

Re: gillette knack, slim twist

I have a knack and I think it compares similarly to the SS while leaning toward the milder side.

What am I listening to? Seeburg 1000, of course

This is what I remember as a kid. It's what was piped into restaurants, elevators, and waiting rooms in the '50s and '60s. Absolutely wonderful stuff and very addictive.

FS: TV Razor & NOS Blades

I have for sale a 1958 D1 cased Gillette TV Razor. The razor is in very nice condition. No brassing. The case is in good condition. No broken hinges but it is marred by what looks to me like someone dripped a few drops of glue on it. Asking $45. Paypal only. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8884/283900...

Re: NOS Colgate Barber Soap

It was six years. I moved, packed it away, and sort of forgot about it. Anyway, it is terrific. All this time I was futzing around with overrated stuff like MWF, and I coulda been using this! #-o That's OK. The stuff was already around 60 years old. What's another six? I haven't used mine in...

Re: NOS Colgate Barber Soap

I'm also a lucky holder of one of these rolls. Truly fantastic soap. I bought a roll of it several years ago thanks to a heads-up by you on these forums...and I completely forgot about it! I'm going to dig it out and try it. I just looked up that post. It was 6 years ago and you still haven't tried...

I believe the Khaki Set is a WWI era razor rather than WWII. I think it was offered to the general public as well. Someone with more knowledge---please correct and expand upon what I have stated.

Re: organic coconut oil as aftershave balm

I love coconut oil. I use it to prevent dry cracked skin in dry winter months. I use it as a hair dressing. I melt it onto my baked sweet potatoes (amazingly delicious). Wonderful stuff.

Re: Band razor

Yes, the band razors have been discussed before and I was (and still am) the only one that appears to like them. I have both the Gillette and Schick versions and I prefer the Schick. Contrary to what everyone else reports I get a very comfortable and bloodless shave. While I only use the band razor ...

Re: Are we there yet?

I learned so much early on by being a member of this forum and I'm grateful for the learning process. More often than not these days I use one of my Gillette adjustables be it a Fatboy, Slim or a long or short black handled. I always set it on "1" and usually use a vintage carbon blade. Br...
