In my opinion, what beard type you have is just as important as how sensitive your skin is. When I began shaving i used multi blade razors and could easily do passes against the grain without getting any irritaions whatsoever. But in my 20:ies my whiskers got thicker and stiffer and going against th...

Another BIC-convert.

I´ve progressed a lot with my DE-shaving for a couple of years. DE:s are a lot better than any of the multi blade crap razors out there. However, I always had this nagging taught that the single bladed BIC-sensitives could give a great shave. So after overcoming the revolting feelig i had of leting ...

No, i´ve never had any problem with bathsoaps or any other hygienic product. However, since shaving exfoliates thew skin it seems reasonable that it should increase the risk of irritation caused by the soap. My lathering process is as follows: I lather with the soap in a cup. When the lather starts ...

Hypo allergenic soap.

I didn´t concider myself as alergic to any soaps. I had a few razor burns that I ascribed to imperfect shaving teqniqe. However, it seems i´ve suffered from a mild for of allergy against every soap eith any kind of scent. Because when i tried a hypoallergenic soap the other day i didn´t get any kind...

Mercur HD barber pole.

I recently orderd the " Barber Pole" Hefty-Long Handled Classic from classic shaving. http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/4597289.htm Does anyone here have any experience with this lovely looking razor? Is it better than the original HD? Does the extra weight make the shaves ...

I sometimes use this cream and think it´s nice. One strange thing with it thoe is that it seems to lather perfectly well with my cheap boar brush, but it takes a lot of it to lather well with my silver badger brush. If you were using a badger brush i suggest you try it wit boar brush instead. With a...

Crabtree and Evelyn shavesoap.

This expensive soap is a joke. I don´t mind the soaps being expensive as long as they can deliver what the price promise. But the Crabtree and Evelyn shavesoap doesn´t lather or lubricate half as well as for example Taylors soaps wich are cheaper. To add insult to injury, the wooden bowls Crabtree a...

An animal friendly alternative to badger hair.

There are a few dogbreeds with fur that seems to lead water just as well as badger fur. A fiend if mine have a spanish waterdog. When that dog drinks from it´s waterbowl, half of the water ends up on the floor because of the waterleading capability of the fur. If i was a bit more handy, i´d ask my f...

I buy the raw dry clay, broken into small pieces. When i wash my hair i dissolve a few pieces with a little water into a cup. Basicly you use it inthe same way as a regular shampoo, but since there´s no lather one must take care to distribute it evenly in the scalp. In the shop were i buy it they sa...

Rhazoul clay.

Anyone else here tried this clay for washing face and hair? It´s the best shampoo/soap i´ve ever used. Leaves a wonderfully clean scalp without drying it. It takes some time to get used to though, since it don´t lather att all. Very good against my dandruff. I´ts also possible to shave with, but it ...

Fantasia

Spiegelei: I bought it in a shop in sweden that´s specialized in electric razors. They don´t stock any old school wetshaving products anymore but they have a small and slowly shrinking supply of some DE-blades and other old school shaving products. The only shaving soap they had was the Fantasia. I ...

Fantasia soap

I get decent lather with both my taylors sandelwood soap and my tabac soap. The tabac soap gives exellent lather even with my boar brush. I`ll guess i´ll use this odd soap for handwashing.

I recently got hold of a german shaving soap I´ve never heard of before, namley a "Fantasia Rasierseife". The smell is very pleasant, but i can´t get a decent lather from it, it doesn´t matter wheter I´m usig my borr bristle brush or my pure badger. Any one out there who´ve had any sucess ...

Gilette Adjustable

It has a dial. My Grandfather believed he had bought it in the 1930-ies, however, he´s not a collector personality that find such things very important. I suppose it could be from the fifties. I´tought the way it looked was slightly to modern to be from the 30-ies.
