FS: Wilkinson Sticky

Here's my Wilkinson Sticky, cleaned and in excellent shape. Works easily and locks tight. These are increasingly hard to find as they were not on the market for long, having been introduced right before the cartridge shaving trend hit. $90 with free shipping in the US. http://s18.postimage.org/qz909...

I will not boil razors. I will not boil razors. I will not

I've had some success with boiling all-metal razors in water, Super Speeds, nickel Techs, etc. I know not to boil gold-plated razors. I don't boil anything with a plastic handle. But I've pushed the envelope and dipped plastic-handled razors in boiling water to clean metal heads. No problem. So I go...

I got a Fat Boy that looked terrible with rust, soap film, I don't know what else. It actually smelled! Very much a "return to seller" item.

I cleaned it up and it looked great. But that was not my expectation when I first saw it.

I can't really tell without trying to clean it.

Beefy 1940's Super Speed on eBay (not my auction)

Here's a seller who thinks he has a beat-up razor worth little.

What he has is a vintage 40's Super Speed that looks like it's going for peanuts. Clean it up and it'll look like new.

I believe it is the castor oil that makes it feel greasy. I read somewhere in wetshaving searches that castor oil is one of the slickest natural oils. I have a bottle of pure glycerin and, in moderation, it is rapidly absorbed. Castor oil is a different story. I was going to order some Musgo Real AS...

I really use the database to get idea what a cologne or AS smells like before I buy. The database covers the 3 T's shaving cream scents, too.

And I use the wardrobe as an index of what colognes and after shaves I have. (I bought a lot a few years ago.)

Tim, The K-mart near me has Florida Water. Sally Beauty Supply has some kind of bay rum - I forget which. Mike The nearest Sally to me has Masters Bay Rum. I bought some Pinaud Clubman as a consolation prize for not finding Osage Rub. (There's a Sally farther away that more men's toiletries and mig...

How does it compare in use to other brushless creams, like Nancy Boy or Cremo Cream?

I realize the results may be very good, but does it really feel less wet than NB? These products are getting into the emollient dry-skin cream or ointment category.

My guess is the 18 refers to 18 karat gold. Numbers on gold tend to refer to the karat designation.

I notice Battlestar Galactica has that nice Merkur product placement. Darn. Makes me want a Merkur Vision. Just what I need -- another razor! The scene in The Untouchables especially with the Hitchcockian overhead camera shot makes me think of the real-life murder of Albert Anastasia, ironically hea...

Re: Last Tango in Paris

This is the famous shaving scene from Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris (1972) , starring Marlon Brando. I remember when I first saw that movie. The actress was hot. Heck, the whole movie was hot. Even now I'm not looking at Brando shaving, I'm looking at Maria Schneider. It was an in-your-...

I just checked some carbon steel Treets.

They do say, "Do not wipe blade. Leave in razor." Remarkable.

Leave in razor, ok, but do not wipe blade?? Maybe too much handling damages the blade edge? Or your fingers.

No offense, but if you're going that high in alcohol concentration, try Everclear at your local fine spirits merchant. No shipping cost and it can be used for other ...

I guess I didn't understand the question. Often my lather becomes tepid, because I'm a wuss about water temperatures and I do not lather in a mug, but on my mug.

Chill the lather? Hmm.

6-Bladed Razor?

Apparently, our friends at Dorco aren't satisfied to put out a superior mild DE blade for us retro Luddites. Heck no. They're playing the big boy's game. They've announced they're going to release a 6-bladed razor, going the Fusion's main blade array one better! It's called the Pace 6. http://gadget...

I found a well-known cream by TOBS really bothers the heck out of my face. But the ingredient list is the same as most other shave creams. I mean really the same, except for proportions of ingredients. There are no suspicious ingredients like jojoba oil or aloe or whatever. So the ingredient list is...

They make the sharpest DE blades and they have no gear to use with them? Weird.
