Re: My adventures with a Rolls Razor

I have had a few roll razors over the years and now I only have my fathers rolls which he got around 1951. a year before I was born. he kept it fine working condition too. I do use it from time to time and enjoy the sharping/stropping and of course its shave that it gives. I also have a few blades a...

Re: Barrister & Mann Roam Soap or Others

I tried barrister and mann shaving soap. I can't remember what scent I had. I found the product to be very easy to lather, actually to easy. it would start making lather while I was loading my brush. it offered good cushion and protection too, but I didn't find a permanent place with my other goto s...

Re: Shower before shaving

yes. taking a shower before shaving is probably the best all over way to prep ones face. a simple shower is the easiest way to naturally set up your face and beard. also, in the shower when you shampoo or condition your hair, use the shampoo and conditioner on your beard as well. and having a shavin...

Re: Soap Commander - Respect: Thoughts while lathering

Brian, by no means what so ever did you waste my time. I to love shaving and I never rush my prep or anything that is part of the shaving process. I remember as teen when my beard was just starting to develop I wanted to shave and my father told me to wait as long as I could. He told me I will hate ...

Re: Soap Commander - Respect: Thoughts while lathering

I have no idea how good the soap commander products are.
but, the time it took him to create a lather, I could have prepped, made lather and do a full 3 pass shave..

I know its not a race. but still..

Re: Kai Blade in My Futur

I recently tried one Kia blade. used it in one of my Tradere razors. And, yes the blade did shave well, nice and smooth and close. The blade to me had a thicker feel much like a Merkur does. My only con with the blade was I only as able to get two shaves and after that the blade was spent. I never l...

Re: WHAT A GREAT GIFT...

yes I do agree with you, I began DE shaving in the mid 70's. I can't remember how many versions of Gillette platinum's there was from then till the 90's.
I never had any issues with any of the versions, there just so damn good.

WHAT A GREAT GIFT...

A couple weeks back I was gifted a pack of NOS Gillette blades. I think these are from the 1980's. Last week I opened the pack and put one blade in my Tradere open comb. O' the memories. What a delight this last week of shaving has been. I have never forgotten how wonderful the Gillette blades of th...

Re: Which of these trimmers would give me the best trim?

the Andis or Wahl trimmers are the best and offer you more than several models to pick from. I have a Wahl that I bought way back in the 1970's and just last year got a Andis. they are both great trimmers and I do think the Andis is the better choice. I use them for my sideburns mostly and to reshap...

Re: Wool fat question

here is a fool proof way to lather any soap. get your brush wet and the bristles soft. flick or lightly squeeze out the excess water. and wet the top of the puck. drain off excess water. start to load the brush, when you feel the soap getting dry or hard re-wet the puck. and continue to load the bru...

Re: MAC Brush Cleaner

my three Rooneys have been in use for years now and I have never seen a reason to use any brush cleaning product on them.
I found my shaving soaps clean the brush and a generous warm and cold water since is all they need.

slap me if I'm wrong.

Re: How long has it been since you bought new soap or cream?

I just order enough soap for a year, and replenish my soap the next year. a puck or two of MWF, a couple tins of mikes natural. I'm good to go.
I need some shea butter, so I ordered some from Mystic Water and included a tub of honey soap since I haven't had Mystic Water for a while.
