SEMOGUE OWNER'S CLUB BOAR BRUSH

I am on my second Semogue Owner's Club boar bristle brush and feel compelled to let you know how superior it is with shaving soap. It is a specialty brush sold by Semogue (Portugal) that has premium boar bristle and a wood handle that is quite attractive and durable. This brush is quite superior wit...

Semogue Owners Club Boar vs. Semogue 2000 Boar

I have both the SOC and the 2000 and find they perform as follows: 2000 - easier to lather up and holds more lather. softer bristles when soaped up. Handle is not as solid as the SOC. Bristles have more loft than the SOC, and are a bit floppy as a result. SOC - creates a very creamy lather from a go...

Semogue Owners Club Two Band Brush

I highly recommend the Semogue Owners Club Two Band Brush, particularly if you prefer to use soap over cream. There is a thread in this Brush Forum on this new brush which I recommend to your attention. Cicerosecundus

SOC Two Band Optimized for Soap

After using the new SOC Two Band every day, I have concluded that it is optimized for use with soap. It does the same rich cream lather with Tabac that my two Semogue boar brushes create. But, in distinction to my densely packed boar brushes, this new Semogue Two Band holds a prodigious amount of th...

Double Dipping with Soap and Creme

For my denser badger brushes, I load the brush first with Tabac soap and then put a small pinch of creme on the brush and whip the brush about in my palm. That creates an unbelievably rich and heavy lather. My boar brushes and a new SOC high mountain brush give me a rich lather from Tabac without ad...

Second use of Brush

Used the new brush a second time and it generated a creamy and rich lather from Tabac, just as good as my SOC boar brush, which means very good, particularly for the second use. So, this new high mountain badger brush beats my much more expensive Chubby 1 and2. Highly recommended for soap users.

Received my Semogue Owners Two Band Badger Brush

My new Semogue Owners two band badger brush came in yesterday. I used it for the first time this AM for my morning shave. The hairs are quite different from all others in my collection: black base and light gray tips. The hairs are thicker and have more backbone than my two Chubby brushes and my Roo...

Chubby2

This is what is great about this Forum; post a statement as I did and you get back keen observations and thoughtful suggestions. My bottom line is that after reading with gratitude your comments to my posting, I am now retiring my C2 from soap and will use it exclusively with cream, which it handles...

Using soap

There is certainly a difference between lathering up a good cream and a soap. Chubby 2s cannot easily work up a lather with soap - to do so requires, at least for me, working the brush tips in the soap to pick up enough and then beating it to Hell in a cup to get a good lather that my Rooney Victori...

Lather with straight back and forth?

Do you use soap? I find that to make a true lather using soap a mere back and forth painterly motion does not generate a good lather.

Painterly vs. Swirling

Yes, I do "paint" and do not swirl when I apply the lather, but to generate a good lather with a soap in a bowl, you cannot paint it on, you must rotate the brush or you will not get a lather. Cicerosecundus

Simpsons Chubby 2 - hair loss due to breakage

I note with my Vulfix Chubby2 that after three years of use with soap, which requires some effort for so dense a brush to generate a good lather, (compared to the ease of lather with a good cream) up to a dozen hairs per use are breaking off. I also note that the hairs that that are breaking off are...

Comparative Lathers

Using Tabac: SMOC Boar: very thick and creamy lather; whips this quality up very fast, does not hold as much as the below Rooney Heritage or CH1. Decent release. Rooney Victorian Heritage: very thick creamy lather, not quite as creamy as SMOC Boar; holds enough for two shaves; easy release. Overall,...

VW has controlling shares of Porsche

FACTS: Porsche lost its take over battle with VW. Porsche borrowed a huge amount of Euros to purchase VW shares in reliance on its US sales. But, US sales dropped and Porsche could not pay the debt carry. Banks refused to fund more Porsche borrowings. Only VW agreed to loan a substantial sum to Pors...

2001 Porsche Carerra 4

My C4 goes through the worst ice and snow with smaller than Carerra Boxter wheels with snow tires. In summer it wears the full size Carerra wheels and tires. There is nothing like a Porsche for a beautiful driving experience for so long as you do not use it as a town runabout. It needs the open road...

SOC Boar Performance

Agree - uneven knot; very hard to break in; mine makes a nice soap lather but cannot hold as much as the S2000, which I find a superior brush in all ways. The bristles on the SOC are heavier and stiffer than those used for the 2000, which I find soaps up better, releases better and holds a lot more ...

Semogue 2000 and with Tabac

I also find a Semogue boar brush very satisfactory with Tabac. I very much prefer the 2000 with any soap to the Semogue Owners Club Brush. The 2000 does a better job lathering up Tabac than my far more expensive English brushes made with badger. The Semogue Owners Club Brush does not lather well wit...

Mir's Custom Razor

Right you are. When it sets up tightened down way off the one mark, I then follow your counsel, spun the top piece 180 degrees from where it was, with the result that tightened down it is one position to the left of the one, instead of about three positions to the left of the one. So, now when I set...

Mergress does not turn to one when tightened

I have your Mergress and when I change blades and tighten down to one, it normally will go way past one such that when it is set at 1 it is equivalent to a three. Is there something that I can adjust?

Thank you,
