Mark,

Stories like yours make me think of my two favorite doctor jokes:

What is the difference between god and a doctor? God doesn't think he is a doctor.

What do they call the guy who graduated dead last from medical school? Doctor.

Good Luck!

I have a long torso, so finding long ties can be a problem. Full-windsor if the tie is long enough, half-windsor if not.

Dan, Your prep sounded good. Ignore the blade numbers, I believe they are for quality control at the factory. I have the Feather Portable and have shaved with it many times. It is a very lightweight razor as I'm sure you know. Your problems are probably related to the angle at which you shaved. Hold...

Mantic, Good luck with the ortho guy but remember that a surgeon's first instinct is to cut you open and see what's inside. Try other things BEFORE back surgery. I too have a protruding disk between L4 and L5. I'm 6'3" and most of that is torso. A chiropractor helped me quite a bit when my righ...

Greeting GF. I last tried Proraso early last year and used the entire tube. I finally got around to buying some more yesterday and this morning was the first time I tried it. This cream sure is thick. I made the mistake of using a similar amount as the other cream I have been using. This was way too...

***UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL*** I purchased one of these razors from Pauldog last year. The transaction went smoothly and the razor arrived quickly. The Portable is a nice little razor that shaved a little more gently than my Merkur classic. The case has separate parts for the head/bar, handle and bla...

I was in Wally World today and saw both the VDH boar brushes and the Deluxe soap in the clearance section. Modest discount on the prices.

Always check the clearance section at Walmart, I've found some really good deals for cheap.

I suppose I'll have to interpret your resounding silence as "no thanks". A thousand apologies to those who have left comments. Between work and our 3-1/2 month old I don't get a lot of razor time. A trade is in the works. Thanks to those who suggested Mantic's video's I did watch it...

All of these posts about XP vs Linux vs whatever and no one came up with any Haiku Yesterday it worked. Today it does not. Windows is like that. I soak my badger hair brush in hot water in a mug while I shower. After the shower and my face prep with a hot washcloth I wring out the brush so I don't get excess water everywhere. Lately I've been using creams from tubs. I dip the brush in the tub to give the bristles a medium frosting. I wet my ...

The world famous blade exposure. I can tell that there is a mild side and an aggressive side. It shaves OK.

If you are in the midwest and have a Hy-Vee nearby, they sell platinum chrome blades in a ten-pack for a very low price. I like these blades better than the Swedes.

Finds from today's antiquing

My wife and I went to an annual antiques sale in a field south of our town. There were lots of straight razors (which I'm not into) and a few safety razors. These are what I bought: http://www.postimage.org/gx1Z_zxr.jpg This is an S1 http://www.postimage.org/aV1AOy40.jpg A GEM razor with PAL blades ...
