Re: My new brush and the mistake!

Well, my wife just bought me a new brush. It was a Rooney Style 3 Size 2 Pure grade when I wanted a Super grade style 3 size 1........it is a slight upgrade from my current brush, but not really what I wanted. I do appreciate her gesture, but wish she had got it right. Arghhh...what to do now? :rol...

Just soaked it in some water to try and get the smell out...it was just normal tap water. Why?

Rather than start another thread, I thought I'd update this one. I have a $120 gift card for Amazon and want to buy a brush. I didn't find any Rooney brushes on Amazon, but are there any suggestions? Could you guys get on Amazon and see what brush I can get that would be awesome and worth it? My bud...

I'm going to spend a little time deciding which brush to get and then I'll start shopping online. I do appreciate all the information...yes it might have been information overload, but better to get too much information than not enough. Thanks guys. Any other suggestions before I get going?

Pt what you're paying for is simply more as in more bristle (denser packed) higher grade bristle with natural rather than clipped tips, more quality control due to being handmade (Simpson and Rooney) and a more aesthetically designed brush. When you can sell it for more you can build more into it. ...

So is the main advantage just the feel of the brush? Here I am thinking I want to buy a more expensive brush, but I have no idea why. I guess I need help knowing if a better brush = better shave?

primetime, (do you have a first name?) Most importantly here is what you are looking for in your next brush! Are you looking for something stiff, soft, dense, floppy, what??? That really is the most important thing. There are numerous brushes that fit the price range. The key is finding the brush t...

pt34, Mark can make his videos however he chooses; we're sharing what we do. Most experianced DE shavers stretch the skin with the free hand, although, as NTS pointed out, it is possible to over-do it. It's not hard to get a feel for what's 'right'....just a little tautening of the skin in the area...

Wait...isn't this contrary to Mantic's video about not stretching? How do you know what is "overstretching"?

My next brush

So, I am relatively new to this wet shaving business!!! It has been an awesome ride up to this point. I now have a handful of different razors (Futur, '58 TV, '51 superspeed, 2 "New improved"), a badger hair brush (this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K8FUFM), and two different k...

What is the best to disinfect without boiling? Can I put it in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide? I've cleaned mine up pretty good, but I haven't done anything to disinfect. Thanks.

A three page thread about brushes and the thing I read the most about is the width of the Salt Lake streets. :) That is so awesome. BTW, the street are pretty wide but it makes traffic bearable (not great but bearable). I live in rural Idaho and I get frustrated having to stop at a stoplight at all,...

Interesting.....didn't know that about the comb headed razors. It's nice to know what others think, although I'll still give it a test run myself. Should I only shave with one of them at a time, or can I switch back and forth to see which I like better (as long as the blades are consistent)?
