Re: What type of Krona did I buy...?

The Silver Krona is the Eversharp razor made to go along with the expensive and incredibly shiny Eversharp blade that was introduced as a super-premium blade around 1965. Gillette countered with the Aristocrat. They both were 4 blades for a dollar. I shaved with one last week, and they give a good s...

Re: FS: Schick Type O Injector

The Walmarts in my part of the country were just starting to open up back then, so that would make sense. I know I was surprised when I opened up the package and there were these injector razors I had never seen before, and that they had no packaging.

Re: FS: Schick Type O Injector

The last time it was sold in the U.S. was April 2003. I think the type-O in the U.S. was online (or mail order) only. I bought mine from this website. It was last available for $4.79 including 7 blades. It came in blank bubble wrap with no packaging. https://web.archive.org/web/20030415130125/http:/...

I think this is from before the Tabac people bought it and S-I-R was independent, with Canada Cedar also in the lineup. http://scentdirect.com/genealogy.php?scentID=779

Re: The Missing Link?

Also of interest is this picture of the U.S. made Thin from four years earlier than the French one. It has three totally different patents showing that the blade was using PTFE and a technique to better bind it to non-stainless blades, in particular. France had different technology, by 1990 at least...

The Missing Link?

Place of manufacture can matter, in that certain techniques are mainly used in one place or another. An example of that is the blade I shaved with this morning, a gold-tinted Gillette Thin that says Made in France (for the US market) and dated K-1, right after Gillette closed its U.S. plant. Importa...

Re: Golden Age for Razors?

To me, the Gillette Thin, Blue and Super Blue Blades of the 70's and early to mid-80's are some of the best blades out there. They started putting the PTFE coating on ALL their blades in the early 70's. They also got a patent to specifically meld the PTFE to non-stainless blades around that time. Th...

Re: Noxema Disposables Have Changed?

I'll check my Double Tree as well. They only had the green triple blade Noxzemas for a while (blades from Japan, assembled in China). They were fine, but I like the twin-blades too. My teenage daughter keeps taking them for her use instead.

My local Japanese grocer has Kai 4 blade cartridges, but they are $14 for 5, and they don't have the razor.

Re: Disposable Razors - don't laugh- best of what's availabl

It goes in and out of stock at Dollar Tree, but the 2 pack of Noxzema Twin Blade (rebranded Made in Japan Kai razors) for one dollar is one of the best disposables I have ever tried. I bought the 10 or so left at my dollar tree. If you see them, grab them- they are bright red in a small two pack for...

Re: Irisch Moos

Just a note about Irisch Moos cream and other Irisch Moos items. Both a friend of mine in Germany and another member of another website were looking for these items on the ground in Germany. Both had store clerks telling them that Irisch Moos will generally not be restocked, and the barren condition...

The later Thins and Blues had the PTFE coating added without any real promotion of such. They tend to last a long time and be protected from rusting by the coating, if unused. These appear to be to old to have his happen. Best I can tell they started this in around 1970-72. On the thins, they contin...

The footage after the commercial is from 1964-66, because it has Super Stainless blades with the crowns that started around 1965-66, and not the spoiler that started in later summmer 1966. There was different design when Gilletter Stainless first started in the summer of 1963. The commercial is all ...

Since they are pictured in the thread above, I would say that the Gillette Injectors, both single and twin bladed, consistently go for over a dollar a blade as well. They are very rare in quantity and still sell at high prices then. I have never gotten one, even though I won a case at auction. It ap...
