Re: Bread Machine Panettone
Good for you, Christian! (At least, as long as you don't have too much.) C. I live according to my fathers statement many years ago. He said "It's not what you eat between Xmas and New Years, but rather what you eat between New Years and Xmas that puts the weight on". Sounds abs...

Re: Bread Machine Panettone
It is that time of year again, and I have just had two slices of Dr. Moss's fine bread machine Panattone. Even WITHOUT a large family gathering, it's worth the effort (and considering it's made in bread machine, there's not much of that either). And best of all, it's fresh and much tastier than anyt...

Re: WTB: Rooney 2XL Stubby with the 2 ring handle
Not only did I NOT have an XL (my bad), but golfhacker shamed me into putting the brush I did have in rotation again,
and boy am I glad I did!

Re: WTB: Rooney 2XL Stubby with the 2 ring handle
I have a Rooney Stubby 2 of about that vintage that (perhaps slightly older) has been used maybe 20 times since I bought it new, and not in the past 5 years or so.... It's a wonderfully dense brush, but I'm more of a mop/flop kind of guy it turns out, so it's been sitting in my "sell" pile...

Re: Microsoft Edge browser
I'm not the one to really answer this as I don't use Windows OR Apple but rather Linux. However, I do seem to recall seeing somewhere that the Edge browser was pretty decent. It's not the IE of yesteryear. (I think I heard it on Steve Gibsons "Security Now" podcast) That said, it's hard to...

Re: New Derby Premium Blade
I promised I would report back (somewhere) and here it is.... the Derby Premium is still NOT what the original Derby blades were. They are OK in a pinch, but that is it. The ORIGINAL Derby Extra blades were wonderful.. sure, they didn't last long, but they were fine. As someone, somewhere, pointed o...

Re: Shaving Oil Revisited
PS: Ash, not oak. Oops..... The mind, she is weak. Then again, that dredged up the memory of a line spoken by Mulder, holding a baseball bat, while Scully was bent over, searching for evidence, in an Xfiles episode: "Nice piece of ash". The oak idea may have come from someone whom I used ...

Re: Shaving Oil Revisited
It was available with it, but mine doesn't have it. Many racers de-power the rack for better feel, and a de-powered car has a little smaller lock to lock range on the steering wheel than one that was never fitted with power steering. No power brakes, no ABS, no airbags, no traction control. Just an...

Re: Shaving Oil Revisited
So, why the heck would I try this? I love soaps and creams and their scents. But for travel purposes it might make sense. There's always some tiny bottle of shampoo in a hotel room that can be used for de-greasing. A bottle of eye drops can be emptied and refilled with some suitable oil, and 10ml w...

Re: Why buy Simpsons brushes?
I am going to second the choice of a Simpson Colonel X2L, I had two of them, one was the bog standard off the shelf, and one that was custom made by Simpson on a group deal with an upgraded knot. The custom knot is made from a beautiful grade of hair, but it's in a bulb shape and I'm a diehard fan b...

Re: Ada Soaps
LIke Murray, I have quite a stock pile of creams and soaps... but I've never let that stop me from trying a new one! I will be waiting until they are available from the Canadian Blade Co. (a new shop to me), and if any of the scents tickle my fancy, I'll likely be a goner. I'm still lament...

Re: Ada Soaps
Thank you for the update Dr. Moss.
I'll keep working on my stash of old stuff, and when it's available again, I may just have to try out a cake or two.
Regards
Christian

Re: Ada Soaps
Interesting. Their last post on their Facebook page is about cooking soap, dates back to January 12th this year. Located in Edmonton Alberta Canada. Lets hope things will be sorted out promptly, a new source of quality soaps is always welcome and with less than 30 cakes of soap, I'm starting to &quo...

1976ish, University of Oslo Norway, Students hall..... Chick Corea & Return to Forever. All time most favourite concert. More recent, I actually enjoyed "Weird Al" Yankovic's "The Alpocalypse Tour" in Winnipeg the most, though I did also enjoy several Moody Blues concerts ove...

Re: Stropping With Linen Only
Hello Chris and welcome to SRP.
For the record, you can order a linen only strop from Torolf in Norway, he ships pretty much anywhere.
Beautiful strops, but alas, I have yet to order one for myself.

Re: New Derby Premium Blade
I had my 4th shave with the Premium and it was still quite sharp, but I'm finding it rough on the skin and it tends to cause nicks. Feathers are sharper, smoother and last longer. Based on the feel after the 4th shave, I'll be replacing the blade before my next shave. Yes, the old (more than 5 years...

Re: New Derby Premium Blade
Well, I sort of had to put my straights down to try them..... Not really a fair test, as I'm so used to my straights, but I have had 3 shaves using my Merkur HD and I find them quite sharp over the terrible stuff they have been selling the past few years. If we go back to when I started using the re...

Re: Prime rib and yorkshire pudding
Yorkshires are there for GRAVY.... But, I like more than just Yorkshires. As for Yorkshire pudding videos.... Jamie Oliver has a nice one you YouTube. I tend to prefer a light side salad, slaw or delecately pickled veg of some kind. Along with the refreshing and palate clearing salad veg, maybe a to...

Re: It's here, it's here!
Indeed, a 7 day set might be more annoying than pleasing. I've been searching for some photos of a "Gentleman's Necessary Kit" that I saw some years back. It had room for 2 razors I believe, hair brush, toothbrush, shaving brush, mirror, metal soap container and some other trinkets with th...
