Straight Razor Newbie

I am looking to jump into a straight razor. I have been shave with a DE razor for over 3 years. I have always been interested in a straight razor and want to give it a try. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive "starter." I have found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/B-B-21-PROFESSIONAL-L...

WTB: Straight Razor Starter Set

I am interested in using a straight razor. I have been shaving with a few different safety razors for over three years now and am looking to make the jump. If you have a set that would be great for a beginner, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a brand new, never used Merkur Futur shave brush for sale. I already have and use the exact same brush and do not need 2. I am asking $75 shipped Continental US. Thank you very much.

I know....I went there the day AFTER they closed down the store. I wonder if you can call him and just pick it up wherever he is located to cut down on shipping. I wouldn't mind going to Nashville as it is only 20 minutes away AND a great place to visit on a nice day.

It's too bad the Nashville Knife Shop closed down it's store. That was a nice place with LOTS of goodies! Did either one of you ever go there?

There is one difference no one has noticed between the two pix. In the clean shaven pix you are smiling. Yep, smiling. Must mean something that you smile when you are clean shaven but almost skowl when you have the mustache and goatee. Leave it clean, you will be happy cause you have more face to e...

This reminds me of something I read in a book about being an artist. An art instructor had two pottery classes on his schedule one semester. He told one class that their final grade would be based on one pot they submitted - the goal was a perfectly round pot, so the rounder the pot, the better the...

Any professional athlete will also tell you the same. That's what they preached when I played baseball at Wichita State. It was more about the quality of what we did and not the quantity.

I forgot to mention that with the second razor in the box....it had valet strop labeled on the inside. Did the old razors come with strops? I could not make any sense of it, but this one definitely had a strop that came with the safety razor? Anybody with information on that?

Segal Razor?

I was at an antique store looking for some old safety razors. I found an old brass one and the only thing I could find that resembled a brand was Segal...is this the name of a brand? There was also another one in it's case that seemed to work that had "hole in..."and I couldn't read the la...

Ren a while back posted microphotographs of hairs that had been wet in hot water and those that had been wet in cold. I haven't found them, but IIRC the hot water hairs had were fuzzy with scales extended, and the cold water hairs had the scales fully adhering to the stalk. (Very technical language...
