Well, I've got a tube of the Pinnaud (clubman) wax. It's a little funky, I also need to grow more moustache to make it work well. Does the fireman's wacky tacky work similar, or is it less. . . weird? Can't stand Clubman. It's too thin. Think soft (not melted) candle wax for the Wacky Tacky and for...

I have had a couple of them, but they never really did anything for me. As to cleaning - yes those are OK. I also use scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush. Don't boil the razor though, as there could be issues with the gold plating and any coverings. What Gene said about cleaning. I have one, also. A...

Hi J. Some great advice thus far. Trial and error has been mentioned several times, for good reason - only you will know what works and doesn't work for you as you experiment with different blades, razors, and combinations of the two. One last thing, don't be in a hurry to toss out a blade that is n...

I'm two today!
Hard to believe I'm two years old to SMF today. I may not post much, but the info I have gleaned from all of you has certainly turned my shaves into times I really look forward to.
Thanks to all!!
Thanks to all!!

An Elite Brush
I just received my brush from Bob Quinn over at Elite Razor. My wife bought me the razor for Christmas. After seeing Bob's work and how beautiful the wood was (Red Mallee Burl from Australia), I had to get a brush. I splurged a bit and got the 24mm silvertip. Bob was great to work with. He worked wi...

I use what my wife and I both like. If neither of us like it, I won't wear it. She's the only one I have to please. I really only use Brut or Curve cologne. I don't have the funds to try and match an entire lineup for all the soaps I have. As for trying to match, after the scent from my bath soap in...

Hiya, Having never tried it, I can't speak for the shaving cream TSD offers. I do have some experience with the soaps though, and would recommend giving em a try. This product is unlike most small vendor soaps I've sampled.......even looks different. When I first used my order from JoAnna(quite a w...

Winter, summer, spring, fall - doesn't matter. I don't change anything here in New Jersey. I am like Janus in that I really do like the cold water splash after the shave. City water does get nice and cold in the winter. It'll start to warm up mid-spring, which is why I keep a half-liter of water in ...

First, thanks for serving! I'm retired Air Force myself. I echo what the other military guys have said. It's only for a short time. Don't try and draw unnecessary attention to your self. One of the things Basic Training is designed to do is force you learn how to quickly adapt and overcome. Think of...

any tips for a micromatic open comb newbie compared to de's? Same as for any razor you're not familiar with, be it a DE or SE... no pressure, go slow, no pressure, watch the angle, no pressure. Technique is a bit unique, but you can get it. As has been stated, the open comb is the more aggressive. ...
